Season 10 Episode 2

Another good episode I thought. Lots of action, plenty of bickering, a few surprises, and Barry.

Didn't get the ancient arena thing. They're in a very high tech environment, so why are there still such ancient entertainments going on? Could at least be modernized with energy weapons and so on.

A lot of meta-references:
- "work on your delivery"
- "my big reveal"
- "freeze frame"
- possibly also "have we done this before?"

Insulting Pam like that doesn't make a lot of sense. She's a different species, right? Why would she care that she isn't much like a human. Unless we're going to find out she was originally human.

A wealthy planet run by a Monarchy (that maybe oppresses it's people) high tech or not, I could see putting their lower classes or prisoners through battles like that. Bort a spoilt little rich kid wanting something like that because he's tired of the say videos games he's playing asks for a real life game where the prisoners have to fight to the death with brutal ancient weapons makes sense to me. We kind of do the same thing in a Video game world, Red Dead Redemption II was the biggest selling game last year with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 not far behind, we could be playing games with high tech weapons and yet games with traditional ones sell best.

And even in the crowds in the stands have to suffer in low tech seats and so on?

Maybe it's part of the package, like if WestWorld was really a thing people would want it to be as close to authentic as possible and not like the comforts of their life.

Bit like down here in Australia where you can go to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat which is basically a Theme Park come Open Air Museum based around the 1850s gold rushes, you go there and don't get today's comforts. Another called Kryal Castle which is a replica Medieval Castle in Leigh Creek that takes you back to the Myths and Legends of those 5th to 15th century times, similarly if you sit and watch a Royal Jousting Contest or Sword Fight you sit in what they had back then not modern comforts.

It may be a place to get away from their modern life leave the technology behind, or Bort and his Royal Family are the type that don't give a damn about the people and their comforts, so if a spoiled brat like Bort wants it authentic then that's what he gets.

"Have we done this before?" "Somebody did." That was hilarious. Scifi travelers being thrown into old school gladiator pits is a pretty common trope, but I thought in this instance it was a direct play at Thor 3.

Ahh, thanks for that. Didn't get past Thor 1.
