This film reminded me of
Theatre of Blood, where an actor kills in a Shakespearian way, so to speak.
This film IMHO was much better, more thrilling, more "natural", maybe because they didn't have CGI back then and had to rely more on how to tell a story and on good acting.
Incidentally, Vincent Price has the main role, he starred in some films based on Poe's stories, e.g. House of Usher, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Masque of the Red Death. His reading of "the Raven" is quite famous.
Probably these two films shouldn't be compared, anyway. It just sort of reminded me of this film, probably because great writers' works were involved and it kept you guessing which story the killings were based on.
