The translation of the title is "No my daughter, you're not going dancing", I may have forgotten all the details from the film, but I'm wondering is there anything in the plot that relates to this title? What do you think?

Yes, indeed, there is much in the plot related to this title.
This title in French is the fourth sentence of a folksong from Brittany named " Le pont de Nantes" where a mother won't let her daughter go out to dance in a ball. Her brother finally takes her out, but they both drown at the end, from disobeying, the song moral says...
It still belonged to the repertoire played in French schools in the late sixties...
I think the whole film deals with the freedom of women, both today (Lena, Frédérique), as for the mother's generation or the character of Kettel (after a Breton legend) in the middle of the movie, when she ends up dancing with the devil for having so many "lovers".
I watched the interviews in French on the DVD of both director Christophe Honoré and Chiara Mastroianni. They clearly refer to this burden women still have to carry nowadays when they want to break free.
