These mothers are awful!

Some of these mothers should be put behind bars for child abuse. Kids are kids and they need to be allowed to act like kids. Some of these parents not only force their kids to do this, but it's as if the parents are making the kids work. There are things called child labor laws, you poor excuses for mothers! You ruin their childhood, which is something they can never, EVER get back.

As for the parents of the kids who really want to do this, love it, and think it's fun, this is not directed at you. It's directed at the other people that don't even deserve to be called a mother. They should be called boss.

Eek! That's awful. That's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about, but I didn't know it got THAT bad on the show. I was just thinking of the kids that should be enjoying childhood and being kids. That mother shows that she really cares, eh? Sheesh!

"There are things called child labor laws"

gabe,
child labor laws protect children from working too many hours on real jobs.

pageants aren't real jobs where children earn money.

I was being facetious, but I figured most people would get the gist of that.

Exactly. This is what I was trying to say with the child labor thing that lilypad didn't understand. I really do feel sorry for some of these kids.

I think the scariest thing is that these parents are shelling out thousands of dollars to make their little girls look like hookers. If they're actually going to do "kiddie pageants," then why shouldn't they be judged on a reasonably priced pretty dress and natural expression?

I've never seen ANY little girl wear bizarre dresses like those, flippers on their teeth, spray tanning and more makeup than Tammy Faye Bakker. The whole thing is just really disturbing, and the fact that these moms are all into it is even worse.

i must've missed something, but the bit i saw with destiny didn't seem like her parents were forcing her to continue. they knew she was sick and said they were playing it by ear. they did ask her several times if she wanted to continue the pageant. she might have caught a simple stomach bug.

have none of you ever been sick but wanted to do your activity (skating, football, etc.)?

as i said in my post i went to senior prom.

I've noticed that many times also. They do seem to make them look like little hookers. I guess some people have no taste. I think the people who run these pageants are as much at fault as the parents. It's not like they don't know the way the kids are treated and what they are made to look like.
