They HAVE to know the show is making fun of them, right???

Ive never seen the show, just the commericials and the clips they make fun of on E's THE SOUP. But - seiously- dont the people know they are being made fun of and shown in a very negative light? Everyone from the Pushy Parents to the Falmbouyantly Gay Pagaent Guy. How can they watch an episode without "getting" that they're the butt of a big joke?

being on this show makes them "famous", they're celebrities now! they can go anywhere and do anything, they've been discovered and they've shown the world how talented and worthwhile they are.
there's nothing they can't do now. they've shown the world how hard it is for mothers to train, dress and make up their kids, it's a learning experience for everyone who hasn't known the privilege and power of being a pageant mother.

the sky's the limit now!

Hi Mama,
Originally I thought the same thing, but I have a feeling that a lot of the parents are dense or just so entralled with being in the pageant and on television that the motives behind the show take the backseat. Is this the first season? If so, maybe they had no clue what the real objective was? I can understand making fun of the parents, but I don't think that the children should be made to look stupid, bratty or mean. These kids DID not ask to be praced around like circus elephants. The show is preying on these kids and their situations in a sense. That's the part that bothers me.

It's like the Jerry Springer show. The guests just want to be on TV. They know they'll be trashed, but they don't care. It's their fifteen minutes of fame. That's how it seems to me.

I know of one mom that has a Youtube channel devoted to her little daughter's "videos". I'm sure there are other parents doing the same thing.

Honour thy parents. They were hip to the groove too once you know.
