Pluses and Minuses

The film is messy and rather naive, and over the top, but its execution is about as fine, under those circumstances, as one could possibly expect. Jeremy Sumpter, we know already, is one beautiful hunk, but though he's playing a would-be Goth dude, did the makers have to play against his hotness by giving him too-conspicuous eyeliner, fingernails which, painted black, are obviously bitten to the quick, the cigarette-smoking style of a 10-year-old, and - worst of all - no angles to show off his bod?
