absent parents

Giuliana and Bill went through so much to become parents. I agree that new parents should have a break form time to time, but it seems that she does more of the break stuff than taking care of the baby. In their income bracket they have access to full-time nannies but wouldn't they rather take care of their own baby and bond?

this is what I hate about these high class people. I mean, they apparently wanted a child so badly as to get a gestational segregate, so why the shi7 won't you take care of him??

and this crap about a life coach, now?? he needs a psychological coach.

Exactly! I understand they have to make a living but you just get the feeling they wouldn't turn down ANYTHING. They'd show up to host the opening of an envelope for two dollars. I mean, they REALLY couldn't turn down hosting a 24-hour FASHION SHOW to spend time with their CHILD????

Meanwhile, if she HAD decided to stay home and not work, people would be bitching about why does she have a show, why is she famous when she doesn't do anything, blah blah blah. Women who are mothers in Hollywood can't win. They're damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

I think it's obvious that Bill and Giuliana both have strong work ethics, and don't want to just coast on what they've already achieved. They know that at any moment, their careers could go up in smoke and want to strike while the iron is hot for them. It's also clear they want to instill those values of hard work and dedication to one's career in their son.

I see nothing wrong with this simply because they struggled to have a child.

Couldn't you do something less drastic than sleeping with her? Couldn't you just kill her?

this is so not what we are talking about. if he is working and she is staying home with the baby -- fine. if he is working and she is staying home and having a nanny take care of him... NOT FINE.

THAT is what we are talking about. how she can go on for years and years on wanting a child so badly to get one from a surrogate mother and then LEAVE HIM TO BE RAISED AND TAKEN CARED OF BY A NANNY...

... IS HORRID AND DISGUSTING.

AND NOW SHE WANTS ANOTHER ONE... SHE SHOULD BE SHOT!!!!

this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with work ethics... this is wanting the best of both worlds. IT CAN'T WORK. something has to give. unfortunately, with parents like this the person who gives is the kid.

Um, when did she stay home and have a nanny take care of him? Last I checked, she is still fully employed, working for E! and with her clothing line on QVC, among other things.

Again, if she HAD given up everything and stayed home, people would be bitching about why does she still have a show. No matter what she does, she can't win with some of you, as I already said -- that much is clear by your reply. Overreact much? Again, just because it took a lot for them to have this child, doesn't mean their working lives should end completely. They still have to make their livings.

How about you let her live her life and decide what works for her and her family? It isn't up to anyone else, contrary to what you might think.

Totally agree!!

Just because a couple has to go through fertility treatments doesn't mean they can't continue on with their career after they become parents.

As if your decision to work again after you become a mother and/or father is dictated by how you went about conceiving your children. I guess someone who doesn't need fertility treatments to get pregnant has every right to hire a nanny and continue their 9 to 5. Several posters on this thread sound absolutely ignorant.

Love is a losing game. One I wish I never played.
