"...it’s refreshing to see a movie with comic-book level violence done with his degree of craftsmanship. “Sisu” is arguably pretty hollow, but that lack of pretension sometimes works in its favor. It’s a robust, old-fashioned action movie with one good guy who takes down dozens of bad dudes who underestimate him. Helander doesn’t have time for character detail or thematic depth—he’s too busy killing Nazis."

Up against Evil Dead Rise this will not do well.

It would have done well had it not been yet ANOTHER "muh evil Nazis!" themed around empowered feminist warriors and more Jewish oppression Olympics.

The first 15 seconds of the trailer looked really good. If this was a one-man-against-an-army in a unique setting that was themed more around First Blood (the first one), then it would have been fantastic.

But it's more typical one-note Hollywood propaganda. So people like myself who WOULD have been willing to support this film "noped out" and that will give Evil Dead Rise an advantage because Sisu would have been my kind of film if isn't just more of the same battering viewers over the head with the typical Hollywood elitism.

100% Hollywood and been picking at the WW2 carcass for 50 years now. Let it go. For a foreign film to open wide they need that Hollywood push and in order to get that push we need "muh evil Nazis"

I loved the movie.

But I have to admit your criticism has merit.
Unfortunately... That's Hollywood these days.

I wouldnt call it hollow since I think of it as a legend or fable. and that hes immortal.

Good for what it was intended to be . . . . tastes will vary of course.
