Of course, it's the Arabs who are the truly sadistic ones in an Israeli film, shows you the denialism and buried racism of that nation

I don't think so as much as the Phalangist soldier hated the Syrian probably because he viewed him the enemy much like the Syrian would have viewed him, right? I thought it was an Anti-war film in which no one is portrayed as righteous or has just cause. To me it was a good film because it didn't seem to deviate from the real truth that, (one), war is hell and (two), innocent people die nonetheless. Everyone looked sadistic no matter which side they were on.

The Phalangists were the perpetruators of many massacres of civilians and they were Isreal's allies, therefore showing your allies as a bunch of sadists is actually a criticism of Israel's politics.
