I hope this isn't the usual post-zionist crap

I really look forward to seeing this movie, but not if it turns out to be the usual self-loathing, post-zionist crap I've come to expect from Israeli cinema.

Saw it. It wasn't so bad. Mostly, it portrayed IDF as a very moral army - which is a good thing in my book.

I don't follow that line of reasoning at all - how are the IDF seen to be a very moral army in this film? When they instruct the tank to fire on civilians? Or blow up an innocent farmer's truck and then shoot the wounded man rather than help him?

If anything it showed the Israeli soldiers in an almost entirely negative light. I have no political bias but this film actually annoyed me quite a lot. Not even half as interesting or effective a film as "Waltz with Bashir".

They were in a place where any civilian might be dangerous. The order fire into the Christian families apartment came from the presence of an armed soldier using them as shields. The chicken farmer ignored warning shots. He was badly mangled and in pain, with no likelihood of getting medical attention, so shooting him was a humane act in that circumstance. and it was the Christian Phalangists who mistreated prisoners, as well as attacking a refugee camp later (as shown in WALTZ WITH BASHIR). Wartime morality is highly flexible. The IDF men did the best they could while desperately scare and protecting themselves.

Obviously you've never served in the military, Mr. Brewer. When someone is driving towards you, you shoot warning shots and then your shoot to kill the driver.

In most soldier's minds, the driver should be shot just for being stupid enough to advance towards a group of suspicious soldiers, stupidity defined.

That the paratrooper shot the wounded driver dead can be debated, but that is a different subject. American soldiers, especially in the Ardennes, would rather shoot German prisoners than escort them to the rear, and when you are dead-tired, hungry, extremely cold and irritated at having the Hun kill your buddies, you really can't blame them. Unless you are a douchebag Leftist, of course.

Well the Israelis at least TRY to make movies representing different points of views. As for the Arabs they don't even try. All their movies, TV shows and everything are just pure anti-Israeli BS.
Talk about "Free Speech".
