What's with the 1.7 rating?

It's a "weighted average". If you look at all of the votes, it averages about an 8, but for some reason they don't display the full rating, only the weighted. It looks like the rating took a nose dive when it was announced Taurus picked it up. Probably Taurus haters chiming in. They dismiss higher ratings assuming it's the filmmakers and friends voting, but I guess don't take into consideration haters that spam 1s. The actual reviews posted range from good to so-so. If only 5 out of 32 people rated this less than a 6, so how is this rated so low?

I’m in 12 years late, but I’ll agree that 1.7 is too low. However, HotWM is pretty much a mess, so it really can’t be higher than 4/10. The movie looks good, but the acting is high school drama class at best. Add to that a convoluted plot/script, and no monster action until the last ten minutes and you have real problems. I sure appreciate what the filmmakers tried to do, but trying and succeeding are two very different things.
