At first, I confused the name of the school with "Middlebury", the private liberal arts school in Vermont. And actually, as I watched the movie, I imagined it taking place at Middlebury. Later, I did google this whole situation and realized the movie was filmed at various campuses (campi?) in Washington state.

I recognized the landscape immediately on the beginning driving scenes as Polouse Hills in Eastern Washington. The two campuses identified as filming locations are actually quite far from each other. But the general school description on film fits Gonzaga University the best. In fact, the two highways mentioned by Conrad near the end of the movie are indeed real highways heading out of Spokane going toward Seattle.
But yeah, there is no real Middleton College that I know of...
I thought it odd that the interior on the chapel in the film was that of a Catholic church although the fictional school is presumably non-sectarian.
It appears it was filmed at St. Aloysius Church on the campus of Gonzaga, a Catholic (Jesuit)school.
yup, its Gonzaga University as mentioned in the end credits.
