So Marvel's next animated film won't be out 'til 2011...

Really? Thor: Tales of Asgard won't be out until 2011 to coincide with the live action release, I get that. But you mean to tell me they couldn't release one other film in that time period? Before "Planet Hulk" the last film released was "Hulk Vs." well over a year before. They started releasing this films back in '06 and DC didn't begin to do the same until mid '07. And they are already surpassing them in number of titles released thus far. Not that it's a competition or anything I just find it hard to believe that Marvel Animation has fallen so far behind with titles per year. They seemed to be really enthusiastic about releasing these films with Lionsgate at the beginning and it looks like that enthusiasm has fizzled out.

Granted, Marvel Animation does have more television shows in production than DC so that could be a reason. To be honest I'd rather have an announcement regarding a season renewal for "The Spectacular Spider-man" than one regarding another Hulk feature. Unless said feature is "World War Hulk".

I asked about this before, and I was told Marvel's slate is busy.

I'm glad DC animated don't take as long. They're better frankly.

Someone else brought it to my attention that it could be because Disney bought the rights to Marvel and the previous contracts that Marvel Animation held with Lionsgate are most likely coming to an end. So that could be a possibility why no more animated films were placed in development other than Thor which they've been working on for awhile now. So Disney could be taking over the helm for these DTV features, perhaps even involving Pixar in the process. Hopefully they announce something big sometime in 2010. Maybe Comic Con this summer.

If Disney works distribution, hope they don't do what they do with their other films, and simply hault and rerelease their films for the sake of expensive movies. Greedy fat cats.
