So drones can read DNA but not race or gender?

If the drones and/or Tet can recognize Jack's DNA remotely (which occurs when they are searching for him at Vica's request) then it seems pretty far-fetched that they wouldn't know a black dude was inside the pod until he stood up. Even his face should have been visible through the glass.

I beg to differ. If plot holes are bad, then logically x+1 plot holes are worse than x plot holes.

That's only true if x is a finite number. But when x approaches infinity...

You have anthropomorphize Tet.

From what little we were presented, Tet could be an artificial intelligence that cannot adapt well to scenarios outside of its programming. That is, scanning is not the same as seeing. Digital sensitivity is not the same as nuanced photonic optics.

Jack's and Vika's DNA info are well-integrated into the Tet's mission. Every other life-form is considered disposable and not worth further resources to investigate. Thus, Julia and Beech are indistinguishable miscellania.

The Tet's 'attitude' is quite similar to what was encountered in The Terminator. The Connor pair of mother and son were the only ones of consequence. Everyone else was disposable and dispatched summarily.

We only see the Tet recognize Jack's DNA, a man it has cloned innumerable times. Julia and Beech has never been scanned by the Tet and it has only cloned one other person, Vika. Does Tet even fully recognize gender? If Jack had had a male co-pilot onboard the Odyssey, this might have been a very different movie altogether.

The drones only see and do what theyre ordered.
If theres no reason to scan a person they wont be ordered to do so. It is obviously no part of their daily routine/common programming.

I dont see it as a plot hole.

The AI simply failed to check the person Jack brought along. Dont blame the drones. Why would the AI suspect anything if its not obviously presented? Its not a human. And it seems it underestimates human nature.
It also didnt check Victorias voice pattern for lies when she lied about Julia.
