Odyssey Module Release [spoiler question]

So, at the end when real Jack released Julia's module from the Odyssey, that is the crash that Jack 49 saw and rescued her from? The module orbited earth for 60 years? This is probably an obvious plot point to everyone reading this post -- thank you for not making me feel stupid. I'm not a sci-fi fan but really like this movie for some reason.
