Not all conservatives are anti-environmentalist s

Some of us are mainly against Green Party types who would rather all of us lived in teepees in the forest, or against PETA types who would shoot a human (a type of animal themselves, mind you) over a mink coat.

In other words, some of us appear anti-environment because we are against the extremist crackpots that typically appear behind environmental issues and give them bad names.

I'm all for a free market, but also support pushes for common-sense business methods that are less harsh on the environment (solar power, using faster-replaced natural products instead of wood, etc.). If this makes me a bad conservative, then so be it - but I don't think one has to necessarily be for the destruction of the environment in order to be a conservative.

Conservatives are not free market at all.

The free market and strong private property rights would most likely lead to resource conservation. Businesses would want to cut costs as much as possible (especially if they don't have the state to game the system in their favor), and that includes use of land and negative externalities. Not to mention the cost of reputation damage if they go around destroying things.
