The little scene where the Once-ler tosses the Lorax a thneed and has the paparazzi ambush him, then posts the photo on a big billboard claiming thneeds are now "Lorax approved" occurs during the lyric "And the PR people are lying!"

Was this a deliberate jab against the marketing tie-ins for this movie? Or just a creepy/hilarious/meta coincidence?

Most likely an unexpected jab that they didn't know would be happening in real life.

I'm sure the Truffula Trees didn't give that Mazda SUV a seal of approval.
