I'm so angry!

Why is this the film that gets mixed treatment and The Cat In The Hat the one that gets completely hated when it should be the other way round? The Lorax is an offensive sexist film against both men and women, the animation in it is poor, the casting is wrong [I like Zac Efron a lot but don't think he should be in a Doctor Seuss film, he's much better in teenage orientated movies and it is not fair on him to make him do something that's isn't right]. Also I don't feel like Taylor Swift should have been in it. You probably want my suggestion? How about Jim Carrey, that would have been a bit better, as he was okay in The Grinch or failing that, Jack Black or Johnny Depp, or feel free to make your own suggestion if you don't like mine but Zac Efron was not a good choice. It was unnecessary to make this film, the original cartoon was good. Now compare it to The Cat In The Hat, for which the cartoon wasn't so representative or true to the book, and Mike Myers was a better choice for that than Zac Efron for this, he had for instance been in Shrek so he had been in something more aimed at kids. TCITH did it's best in terms of set design [it wasn't animated] and this film is cheesy and stupid, with bad music. It doesn't feel like the book at all. Naturally, the people who don't like TCITH are probably the same people who like The Lorax, people who love things that can get away with looking good by following conventions but are otherwise poor. The Cat In The Hat just tried something new. So anyway, I hate The Lorax! The fact that other boards are discussing sexism here is proof of how bad it is.

You obviously missed the whole point of the movie and the message the were trying to get across to materialistic, greedy, entitled jerks w/o are #?LL bent I destroying our beautiful planet. Humans won't be happy until they have turned our planet into a barren wasteland and destroyed all land and water creatures. It's WAY worse than you think it is right now,and it gets worse by the hour.

He didn't miss the point, the film did, especially the marketing department.
The 70's Cartoon had a certain nuance which is entirely absent here

Yeah, by the end, I didn't really feel that Ted had learned anything.

He still seemed moreso about trying to impress Audrey than anything else.

Plus, the townspeople's turn just seemed really ridiculously quick, the typical 'cartoon sheeple' like one saw in the 2000's 'Grinch' film.

Also, whose to say that O'Hare didn't try to uproot the seedling later...that is, unless after they strapped him to that rocket-helmet, he slammed into a building and died from a brain hemorrhage.

Not fair to Zac Efron. There are many more problems with this movie. Not to mention that Dr. Seuss stories really aren't supposed to be film length. The "TV Episode" style of the original 1970s Lorax got it right, and the animation style matched the book. The timing of the special is also excellent, with mood matching music (lol) changing to R&B Funk music for tense scenes with tear-jerking music for the scenes where The Once-Ler is speaking to "Ted". And I absolutely love "Fish Outta Water". And give me the Thneed advertisements any day instead of those horrible excuses for commercials on today.

Compare to this movie which I have only seen a few scenes of it and then stopped. because it was so bad.

All of your comments=somethin' I agree with (as an old-time, read, pre-1975 animation blogger/fan, and younger baby boomer , bordering on older Gen X-er)..Just to add something on the original (airing on Valentine
s Day 1972, rather than Earth Day), the Ed Helms/Danny DeVito roles were handled by Bob Holt, a longtime character//voice actor who'd been working for other studios, the one and only Eddie Albert was a cameo in introducing it, and Thurl "Tony" basso profundo Ravenscroft (unbilled0 is even in it! The Zac role was done by "The Ghost and mrs.Muir" kid Harlen Carraher..
