David Copperfield as Uten

Maybe he can make your godawful Emma Watson obsession disappear.

reply

Nice cast listing of Needless!

I like it that you cast Sean Connery in the role of Gido. And I was surprised that you chose Emma Watson to be Disc, because I initially had a hunch that you would cast her Setsuna. But in any case, Emma can fit the role of Disc

But are you sure about casting Courtney Halverson as Mio? I thought Mio was supposed to be alot younger like in the anime

I also noticed that you included Jessica Boone and Alisa Durbrow, two dub voice actresses for animes, in your cast listing. Ironically, Alisa Durbrow provides the voice for a character named Mio in another anime.

Ever seen The Wizard of Oz? Judy Garland was 17, and yet she was able to play a 12-year-old girl effectively. If you still think Ms. Halverson's too old, please feel free to tell me who you were thinking would be a great Mio.

Ah, yes, I remember. Mio Kuroki, nicknamed Sailor Hot Topic by fans because of her fashion sense (want proof, see this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Anime/FanNickname), from Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.

Why you gotta be like this, Uwe Boll?

Have you even watched Needless?

Yeah, Judy Garland was good at portraying 12-year-old Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. But the difference between Judy Garland and Courtney Halverson is that Judy looked like a 12-year-old girl in that movie, while Courtney looks more like she's in her mid-teen years. But I guess it's still possible for Courtney to look like Mio's age if CGI effects make her look a bit younger

I think Dakota Fanning would be good at portraying Mio, since she's got the young girl look and she's not bad as an actress. But it's your choice because it's your cast listing; I'm only giving my thoughts

I looked at some of her pics, and indeed it does look like she shops frequently at Hot Topic

I'd say yes to CGI effects for Ms. Halverson.

reply

Yep, CGI is the way to go in cases like these. Besides, a movie adaptation of this anime would require LOTS of CGI effects anyway

Here's my picks for the soundtrack (once you put yours down, we can combine our choices by picking the best of our selections and mixing them into the soundtrack).

1. "Dittohead" by Slayer
2. "Sorry (For You)" by Guns N Roses
3. "Cantspeak" by Danzig
4. "Back in Black" by AC/DC
5. "Enter Sandman" by Metallica
6. "The Sound of Silence (electric version)" by Simon and Garfunkel
7. "Scraped (or, Lies They Tell)" by Guns N Roses
8. "Wrong Way" by Creed
9. "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC
10. "Master of Puppets" by Metallica

Now it's your turn to lay down your picks for the soundtrack.

It's been a while since we made soundtracks to the movie adaptations

I like it that most of the songs you chose are within the heavy rock music genres, since the anime 'Needless' is filled with a heavy rock soundtrack (with obvious exceptions of course). This will be an easy soundtrack to compile

Here are my selections for the film adaptation:

1. "Coming Undone" by Korn
2. "Edgecrusher [Urban Assault remix]" by Fear Factory
3. "Bat Out of Hell" by Meat Loaf
4. "Back on a Mission" by Cirrus
5. "Push It" by Garbage
6. "Last One Standing" by Girl Thing
7. "Spaceman" by Babylon Zoo
8. "Break the Madness" by Cirrus
9. "Fuel" by Metallica
10. "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins

Cool! Now let's condense our two soundtracks into our own version of the soundtrack. I think the four songs I'd call "must-haves" in what we'll call "the definitive Needless soundtrack" are "Dittohead" by Slayer, "Coming Undone" by KoRn, "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC, and "Master of Puppets" by Metallica. What do you think should be included in the combination?

I think the following songs should be in the soundtrack:

1. "Dittohead" by Slayer
2. "Coming Undone" by KoRn
3. "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC
4. "Break the Madness" by Cirrus
5. "Master of Puppets" by Metallica
6. "Edgecrusher [Urban Assault remix]" by Fear Factory
7. "Cantspeak" by Danzig
8. "Last One Standing" by Girl Thing (I though of using this song as sort of a theme for the Simeon Girl Force)
9. "Back in Black" by AC/DC
10. "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins
11. "Scraped (or, Lies They Tell)" by Guns N Roses
12. "Spaceman" by Babylon Zoo
13. "The Sound of Silence (electric version)" by Simon and Garfunkel

Good choice! All that's left is to arrange the songs into a specific order, and we have our soundtrack!

Great! I like the list order. The only song here that seems really out of place is "Last One Standing" by Girl Thing, but I chose it specifically for the Simeon Girl Force (as said before)
