Origins is slow, and Duel is kind wtf, but homecoming and on are great!

Origins is very dull. But i mean i really dont think you could have given the explanation regarding the fore runners in 30 mins and make it exciting. So yes it was dull but that can be excused for the story background. However, the animation on origins imo is the weakest out of the series and that really hurts it. Honestly it was on the level of dead space downfall bad, but not that great either.

The Duel had interesting animation, but wtf since when do the elites live in pre Meji era Japan. The whole feel to this one felt exteremly odd, and so I dont think it really bad, but especially for someone whose played the games it was just kind of like wtf.

Homecoming is imo when everything turned around, its my favorite, and probably overall the saddest of all the stories. The animation was nice kinda reminded me of pumpkin scissors or scrapped princess. But I think it should a darker or more grim side of the spartan soldiers in a concise and impactful way. Dam, if only master chief made it a little sooner :(

1337 was just hilarious, it was completely left field after homecoming, but it strangely worked well inbetween two of the more sadder tales. I got to admit this one had me laughing the whole time, although i admit i was curious to see Momma.

Prototype was in the same vein as homecoming; and that suit in there has to be the most badass spartan suit every. The guy was practically a mini gundam. But alas like in life lessons we need to learn are learned a little late.

The sniping one was kind of cool as well as we got to see the odst guys in action, a nice nod to the recently released Halo ODST. Honestly, I did not see the end coming, i actually thought the spartan was master chief the whole time, but an interesting twist to say the least.

The last story is the one that was previewed on xbox, honestly when i first saw it i didnt like it because of the cgi look, but seeing it in its entirety changed my opinion, not to mention a saucy little blonde hair lady. Plus its the only story to feature Master chief prominently.

All in all I think its an 8.0, I would give specific episodes like homecoming a 10 but the beginning really drags it down. Additionally, some of the stories I think would benefit from longer lengths. Even origins could have been good had it been say a 2 hour movie told from the perspective of a fore runner, rather then a long narration by cortana. Additionally, I kind of wanted to see more of master chief, maybe the can make another anthology down the road. Lastly, I dont get why the couldnt get the voice actors from the game. But I think overall anime fans and halo fans will appreciate, Id say the style of most of the stories reminded me of Mamoru Oshii.

When it comes to casting it all depends on production time and the availability of the actors.

but i dont think its quite so complicated with voice actors

You would be surprised. But there's also a matter of SAG regulations. It's a whole multitude of conditions and factors to get specific actors.

I probably would, sounds like its one of those situation when on the surface the situation appears far more simply than it really is. I just figured that since microsoft had its hands in legends directly, that it would be like to have master chiefs voice actor. Oh well its not like it killed it for me.

This episode is just bad. There is nothing absolutely new here. I expected nothing less of Production IG but I guess they aren't in there best here. The animation is bad. They covered this by using filters but it doesn't hide the blocky and robotic animation. The story is cliche. It borrows a lot of story elements from past greater films like "The Gladiator". The cliche shot when Fal saw his wife murdered on the floor and he screams while the camera pulls back, come on!! The match between Fal and Haka was just too short. I know what they were going for but the final duel really needed energy. Worst episode in Halo legends ever!

I have to say I loved all of the shorts for different reasons except for Odd One Out, I appreciate what they were going for with that one, I have a little brother who loved it because it was colorful and kind of silly...but I couldn't stand it.

Origins was a great style to tell a heavy backstory-exposition of the franchise

More and more I'm falling in love with with the unique look of The Duel...it's story is a cool origin of the Arbiter title being one of shame, but its animation style really makes it the most unique of all of the stories...I personally wouldn't mind if all of the 'covenant historical tales' were told with this style, or at least in styles as visually risky and bold.

Homecoming was a relentlessly tragic story...

Prototype was an awesome story of redemption, and full of badass 'mecha' action as well.

The Babysitter was a cool 'team mission' story with a great twist.

The Package was unrelenting awesomness, there isn't any other way to put it, the dramatic stories and plot twists were left to the rest of the shorts...all of the slickest action sequences and awesome video game references were left to this one.
