Origins I + II = Second Renaissance I + II

Shameless rip of The Animatrix. I can understand them following in Animatrix's footsteps by releasing an animation compilation DVD, but damn near copying their material is borderline insulting.

The Matrix is the only franchise that can tell an all-encompassing animated rendition of it's dense backstory?

Damn, didn't know they had THAT copyrighted.

Also, Origins covers a MUCH MUCH larger time-span than Second Renaissance.

But interested to note, same director for both Origins and Second Renaissance...so apparently he doesn't feel any negativity towards it.

Plus there is only one CGI story that is the most relevant to the core-story (The Package and Last Flight of the Osiris), I don't mind it just occurred to me.

Yeah, the similarities are abundunt, but I find any claims about 'ripoffs' to be a bit shallow.

I agree. Not exactly a ripoff, but it does play it too close to Animatrix in many areas. It's very disappointing to see so much creative potential playing it safe where it could've pushed into so many different directions with such a rich mythology. At least "Batman: Gotham Knight" did its own thing in its individual stories. "Halo Legends" seemed to take the path that was already cleared by the Animatrix. It's a real bummer.

Origins was directed by the same director and same studio that did The Animatrix.
