Halo - The Package

THIS is exactly how EVERY single movie made from FPS video games should have been made!!!

I.E. List:

Doom,
Wing Commander,
Resident Evil (meh, maybe this one went out nice),
Postal,
Far Cry...

Any more? Anyone agree?

How can i be lost, if i've got nowhere to go?

reply

It really suprises me that Resident Evil has not gotten an anime movie or series I mean come on there have been a ton of games, the series is not dwindling in popularity, and people love zombies, so yeah you would think they would have done a Resident Evil anime by now.

And yes I know about RE DEGENERATION I liked it but it was CG not anime, I also own all the Resident Evil live action movies, and am looking forward to the forth.

i loved the part where it zoomed in to the visor and it look exactly like the game, was a very very nice touch

Despite the whole episode being a bastardization of Halo canon, the CGI quality was pretty good.

Life is tough. It's tougher if you're stupid.

reply

Nothing was bastardized in the Halo canon. All of the episodes of Legends are canon except for Odd One Out

I mean, you could complain about little details like 'how much damage does one needle do' or sounds made by certain weapons...but things like that were inconsistent within the various episodes of Legends, and truth be told, are not detrimental to canon.

I loved the visuals, but I thought the audio was lacking.

reply

Yeah, if The Package had the quality of sound design that Prototype had...that would have been a hell of a mix.

I thought how the music was used in The Package was some of the best, along with Homecoming.

That was like the worse one. It started off semi stupid, and just kept going down from there.

At least most of the other ones started semi stupid, then grew a little bit.

Edit: And who gives a *beep* about Halo canon? The only legit 'canon' is from the games. Which is where most of it should stay, as it was made for a game, and not for a movie, or novel, or anime.

No, what Bungie or 343 Inustries officially states is canon is what is canon, that includes every piece of fiction done for Halo save for Odd One Out...they moniter what stories get told and what they contain for a reason, so that it fits in the canon and the story they've structured.

Sometimes canon is revised a bit, but never anything like stories being erased or anything.

For example, in the Halo: Combat Evolved game, Sergeant Johnson accompanies the MC on a rescue mission that heads into a Covenant ship, that isn't canon, it was actually a marine major(or a colonel or something) by the name of Silva that went on that rescue mission, as detailed in the book The Flood.

This is what I'm talking about though. The Halo universe has lots of made up *beep* in it. How is it that the GAME is not 'canon'?

And the Major Silva stuff is only one thing that they changed. Him being there equaled a 'battalion' of ODST being on Halo, which was never in the game IIRC.

Why is Johnson some wannabe Vietnam era platoon sergeant in the first game, but some creepy black ops guy in Contact Harvest, prior to Halo: CE?

That's why I say, the games are one thing, and the adaptations are another.

Im curious about the Theme music playing when Chief and the other 2 spartans are on the ship and get out of the bubble shield and starting running down the hall?

Any idea?

Thanks

reply

I was pretty pumped about this episode.

When they get on that covenant ship, they are crouched within the bubble shield and then as it falls and they leap forward, they freeze the shot for a nano second - it's awesome.

And then they open up with the carnage, the music sweeps in, the cut to the first person view but the best moment of all, which I'm not afraid to admit brought a tear to my eye and made the hairs stand up on my neck is when Kelly jumps up, grabs the two plasma rifles in slow mo and the music swells up.

Breath-taking moment that really blew me away.

All I can say is that you arent the only one who felt that way...The sheer awesomeness made me feel all tingly

reply

Just watched the whole thing - The Package was easily my favourite.

reply

I just watched the Package and that whole corridor run and shoot sequence was some gangsta shyte. I always imagined a team of Spartans kicking ass and taking names like this. I hope Halo: Reach has such a sequence.

Also as someone else said when Kelly leaped up to grab the two plasma rifles all I could say was "DAYUUUUUUMMM!!!!"

reply

Yea, kinda reminds me of Halo Wars, the cut scene where the Spartan Red Team takes on the Elite Guards on the bridge and Sgt. Forge goes one on one with the Arbiter. It was pretty kicka** scene

reply

That scene in Halo Wars is fabulous. Cracking fight with the spartans but the one on one with Forge is great.

THe Package episode Kicked major ass! The Space Battles with the Spartans riding those Booster Frames, the onboard ship Battles against a whole armed covenant battalion, and so on. All the action scenes in that episode gave me goosebumps, there was non stop action every where.
