What kind of research did they do?

besides beeing partisan and one sides about "evil Serbs" , which comes from mainstream american media , for , what was , a civil war between three sides (serbian, muslim, and croatian) ....

but, to my point of interest >

What kind of bleak research did they do for this movie,
Travolta going by the name "Emil Kovach" .
Now, I live in Serbia all my life, and thought I am not Serb,
I do not know anyone called Emil for my entire life.

Oh , wait , I do know one - and he is a muslim some kind of.
For what I know , Emil is jewish name.

And surname Kovach spans from hungarian, serbian, croatian, Slovak, ruthenian, etc. Not at all characteristicaly serbian surname.

And that kind of beard - kind of weird or fake - only woren by some muslims in serbia, and some jewish.

Seriously, what was the budget of this movie, ?
Did it all go to top actors, and none to research ?

Well, in danger of this thread becoming billionth internet Serb vs Croat dispute (mind you, I am neither, though I live in Serbia), here it is:
1. In my first sentence , I gave a hint that I kind of understand that "evil serb" hollywood point of view, I just thought it would wear off being almost 20 years from CIVIL WAR.
2. The thing that bothers You is a fact that I called it Civil war . Instead of disputing with You, cause obviously you are one sided, I am gonna qoute Wikipedia

"The Croatian War of Independence was fought from 1991 to 1995 between Croat forces loyal to the government of Croatia—which had declared independence from the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY)—and the Serb-controlled Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and local Serb forces, with the JNA ending its combat operations in Croatia by 1992. In Croatia, the war is primarily referred to as the Homeland War (Domovinski rat) and also as the Greater-Serbian aggression (Velikosrpska agresija).[28][30] In Serbian sources, War in Croatia (Rat u Hrvatskoj) is the most commonly used term"

And to remind You, before the war , term "citizens of Croatia" incorporated, 1991 - 581,663 or 12.16% Serbs, in 2001 - 201,631 or 4.54% Serbs. In 2011 - 186,633 or 4.36% . So, not only did they fled during civil war, they are now actually assimilating / declaring themselves as Croats.
Alas, here I go again qouting stupid "facts"

So, kudos to Croatia for winning that war (which doesn't make them right) , godspeed, may Cro become ethnicaly clean as them allways aspired.

Oooh, and one more thing for Your last sentence "Had there been Croats in Serbia, Bosnians in Serbia, they might opted for a Croat or Bosnian baddie, but alas, that isnt the case." - there is Croats and Bosnians in Serbia, been before the wars , is still now.

Why are you so one sided? Everybody was killing everybody... all those evil men doing evil things. All the ethnic groups were killing all the other ethnic groups and in many cases their own! They would just come into a town and bomb and rape and steal not asking what ethnicity you are.
The most evil lies were told, by all media pushing their governments agenda.. There are a very limited number of true facts about the war... even then a very few people knew what was actually going on and they were just using that information to get as much money out of the dung pile.

There was ethnic cleansing, it wasn't very nice... What would you call effective ethnic cleansing?

reply

Are you aware of how many fled Croatia during Operation Storm in 1995. I would call that a very effective "ethnic cleansing".

reply

Ethnic cleansing includes killing. With that being said everyone was just killing everyone and I think it's stupid to argue about who killed the most while no one wonders why all this started. Stay fixed to your religions and nationalities and let the americans sell weapons.

reply

Ah yes, the "blame America always" angle so beloved of those who think they know how the world works.

Sorry dargo, Serbs, Croats, Muslims, were all killing each other with AK-47s, Dragunov sniper rifles and Yugoslav made, Soviet style RPGs. We had nothing to do with your little brawl until Germany and England finally convinced Slick Willie that he could get Monica off the front page if he bombed the Serbs.

reply

Ah yes, the butthurt american who likes to point fingers and call others terrorist but sits around a turkey with bread crumbs up its butt celebrating the ethic cleansing of indians. You had nothing to do there, that's right. Stop going to wars that got nothing to do with you and stop destabilizing countries.

reply

You can be butthurt all you want, but facts are still facts!

War was not only a civil war but Serbia was in fact financing and helping the paramilitary in Croatia and Bosnia. Serbian troops (JNA) did enter Croatian and Bosnian borders. In facts they even sang and wore chetnik symbolics.

this is a qutoe from ICTY:

But tell me please, Mr 127, did you personally during your service as an officer in the Bosnian Serb army from May 1992 onwards receive any order from any officer in the Yugoslav army?’ The witness answered that as he was in a unit and followed the orders of his superiors, he was not in a position to receive orders directly from Yugoslavia - but that he was sure that his commanders did. ‘I was there when a commander received a telegram from the Yugoslav army,

I really hope you find the right path in life and disregard being a nationalist!
