Know what's NOT scary?
3-second snippets of ghosts/murder scenes that are so murky and blurry you can't tell a damn thing that's going on.
The ONLY good part of this movie — after they step inside the murder house — has great atmosphere, but it is so badly directed and full of poor decisions, it steps all over itself. Goddamn modern editing techniques have RUINED filmmaking. Seriously, not one single murder scene presented here lands AT ALL. You never get longer than a 3 or 4 second glimpse of fuzzy, poorly-lit ghosts reenacting their deaths. In fact, the only way I knew what was going on in some cases was by watching the filming in the Making Of feature.
This is another case of a fantastic idea ruined by a hack director.
What I wouldn't give for the classic concepts of good writing, acting & directing married to competent editing.
