Global warming? CO2? Nuh, just aliens messing around.

It's ridiculous that this movie includes the silly angle that global warming is due to ... ALIENS!

reply

Yeah, what was up with that!?

"Unknown weather patterns".

reply

That sounds rather like a homage to The Arrival.

reply

No more ridiculous than believing it's caused by humans.

Seemed to me like an attempt to have an environmental theme while trying to not alienate(no pun intended) the conservative parents watching it with they're kids.

reply

News flash: I know quite a few conservatives that are very eco-minded. An "environmental theme" is very different from the sham that man-made global warming is. I recycle, I compost, our family car is a hybrid, but man-made global warming is the alarmist nonsense of cloying, spotlight-loving sycophants like Al Gore.

By the way, the premise of aliens being responsible for global warming was cribbed from The Arrival (1996).

reply

I didn't know Al Gore invented global warming. Oh wait, it was actually first proposed in 1890's by Swedish physicist,Svante Arrhenius. Yea, he wanted to make so much money off it.

Who said Al Gore invented global warming? It helps to read what a person writes rather than tossing up straw men.

Proposing something and whoring it like a $5 hooker are two very different things. However, yes, Arrhenius did make money off of it - he wrote a book on the subject for the general public called Worlds in the Making (1908) that was published and he received a healthy percentage from the sales.

Arrhenius saw global warming as a positive thing by the way, not a negative one.

Arrhenius was also an active proponent of eugenics, helping form the The State Institute for Racial Biology which eventually led to the forcible sterilization of over 21,000 people. If Arrhenius could see what Al Gore did with his theory, I'm sure he would have desired his sterilization as well.

reply

Take your own advice because I was responding to the poster above my previous post. Whether he made money on the book and his belief in Eugenics is irrelevant.Anyone that writes a book usually gets a cut from the publisher. So his views on race or the royalties he received from his book are irrelevant. He was only brought up in response to the previous posters argument about global warming being created by people seeking to profit. And global warming has been substantiated by numerous scientists since then.

You don't have to believe in anything. Facts don't stop being facts because you don't believe in them.

Global Warming is a natural occurance. The human race is helping along, albeit minimally. I wouldn't worry too much, nature has a way of wiping out its creations and starting over again, and again, and again...

I always find it incredibly cheesy when recent movies include something about global warming. Alot of them do now...

Yeah, everyone knows it's a creation of brain-damaged self-serving demagogues and corrupt rent-seeking "scientists"

It says one hell of a lot when you grasp that Al Gore has made a substantial fraction of a billion dollars off of it.
