'Hyde Park, but Hyde Park is in London. It confuses me.'

I refuse to believe that Queen Elizabeth was this stupid. And I find it insulting that they would imply it.

Yeah, I know, that was my reaction to this line as well.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

It could've been worse....

"A New York? What was wrong with the old one?"

reply

There's also a Hyde Park in Leeds.

"Say it with flowers . . . give her a Triffid."

reply

I heard it more as 'irritated' than 'stupid'. Neither she nor the king had been to America before, and she was probably cranky from travel and culture shock. I'll bet whoever their escorts were spent a lot of time pointing out 'stuff like England' in 'New England'. Finally, in the privacy of her own room, she snapped. :)

I don't think the portrait of Queen Elizabeth we see in this film was over - flattering. She is also seen to be short- tempered about the king's stuttering, which I personally think is pretty unlikely and more than a little bit snobbish.🐭

I refuse to believe she was this ungracious and judgmental.

The Royals are brought up from birth to represent their country to all, never to judge, be rude, snobby or snotty. I doubt they behaved this way in private either. Especially in this situation when they are liable to be accidentally overheard.

This is the person we know of as The Queen Mother. Mother to Elizabeth II. Elizabeth II reflects what her parents taught her. I don't see their portrayals in this film reflecting the Elizabeth II we know today.
