Would have been better if it just focused on the visit

The relationship was very bland and dull. Yes, FDR, like most presidents, had affairs, but this one did not seem at all interesting or noteworthy. They looked at stamps and went for drives. Hardly a torrid love affair. The focus should have been solely on the visit, and the affair angles did not need to featured at all, perhaps maybe just a passing mention.

I do question how historically accurate this movie is as well. From my understanding it's not terribly accurate. I realize with most true stories, liberties are taken, but this could have been pretty straight-forward and faithful to history had they focused on the visit and not the "love" story. Would like to see a good movie on FDR's life really.

Wait until they get a load of me.

It was a well made period piece, but yes, I agree, much ado about not much at all. The movie was at 6's and 7's in trying (unsuccessfully) to describe the visit from the point of view of the royals, Daisy and FDR. I think we could have all done without the rather unlikely event of Daisy's nocturnal dummy spit.🐭

Agreed. The visit was much more important historically.
