truly disturbing film!

In this election year, I didn't think I could be any more disturbed about the USA.
bUT seeing this movie, which supposedly portrays FDR and his "groupies" was pretty weird. True, maybe. But sick.

--English folks designed and set this film in a lovely part of England to mimic the surroundings of Hyde Park New York, where Roosevelt often stayed (his mother's home and estate).

--When FDR was lonely, his various groupies (and even his Mom) collected who ever would come over and visit, and perhaps be entertaining to him. This grew into a "following", and was decidedly creepy. FDR's fame, power, wealth and family connections seemed to have made him irresistible. Also his physical problems.

---Women, attractive women, the age of his daughters, do NOT seem to be able to say: "watch it, Mr. President! Keep your hands off me".

Anyway, something is just not right here.

---A fascinating extra in the film is the "visit"(1939) from the then Royal Couple (Bertie and Elizabeth). They are fascinating, if a little timid. The really scary thing is in the "extras" on the dvd disk they are shown talking over long distance to the "kids" back in Buckingham Palace. By then, "Lilibet"(Now Queen Elizabeth II) is 13 years old. But the film-makers have her confused over the fact that it's "night" in the USA, and daytime in England. She becomes hysterical. It's creepier on this point than the whole "FDR and his groupies" setup we have been thrown into at Hyde Park.

---Do the filmmakers actually think "Lilibet" is so upset?
Are they trying to tell us she is dim?

Anyway, this is a weird trip into History.
