Worst set list EVER!!!

WTF is going on with this franchise?? There is maybe 10 songs out of the some 80 that are semi good to play. Whats with all the *beep* alternative nobodys on this list? A perfect circle, AFI, attack attack!, rose hill drive??? WTF!! I *beep* cringe everytime i have to play one of these lame ass "songs" to further the game. IF im gonna spend 60 bucks on these games i want a track list of legitamate rock/metal guitar greats. not this *beep*

I like it, it certainly broadened my music horizons.

Yes, someone who agrees! I can't STAND these games now because they are oversaturated with pop songs, just for the sake of selling the game.

Listen, I love other genres too, as long as the BANDS ARE GOOD. Attack Attack is NOT good, not to mention some of the other crap in this game.

I can't stand metalheads who think they're music is the be all and end all of music. Those Indie bands help to add some variety. Plus it's Rock Band you need to be blaming, they forced Guitar Hero to branch in bands so they need songs that are interesting for all the instruments. Besides which, I've found that the songlists are getting betterand better. Mostly because the amount of screamo shouty shouty guitar whanging stuff has declined. I play Guitar Hero for FUN not to prove I can get 100% on some metal song. Some technical guitar is OK, but passionate guitar is where it's at.

Next one should have more Stone Roses.

I DON'T think that metal is the be-all end-all of music. As I stated above, I love all kinds of other genres as long as the bands aren't cookie-cutter sellouts. I love everything from Garth Brooks to Public Enemy, and even No Doubt. ALL kinds of stuff.

But a lot of the bands in this game are just popular indie bands who happen to sell a lot of records, so of course they picked them.

Don't lump A Perfect Circle in with emo bands like AFI! That is a mistake. Listen to some of APC's albums before doing that!

I'm the guy who does his job, you must be the other guy.

...wow... Three examples of relatively popular bands... I lol'd just a little.

And to the OP...saying that A Perfect Circle doesn't belong in the list is like saying Manicotti doesn't belong in an Italian cookbook.

You people claim to "love all kinds of music" but you're all just like 99.9% of the public - musical simpletons. Come back when you've truly learned about music.

I wish they'd do a Guitar Hero: Maynard with nothing but Tool/APC.
I wish they'd do a Guitar Hero: Muse.

These are examples of bands that are truly interesting. Not that Metallica and VH aren't interesting; but they were the "safe bets" to sell some games.

reply

Popular bands? Of COURSE they're popular bands. They're also good, at least in my opinion. There's a difference between good music and bad music, regardless of genre.

And it's pretty harsh to call someone a simpleton when they list 3 bands/groups that happen to be well known. Besides, listening to obscure or lesser known bands doesn't make you a 'tr00 music lover'. Some of the best bands became famous and popular for the simple fact that their music was worth listening to. Others are only popular because MTV shoves them down our throats, despite the fact that they have no substance.

Just to let you know, I listen to Megadeth, Metallica, Evile, The Sword, Exodus, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Metal Church, and one of your favorite bands, Tool.

I disagree. This is probably the best setlist in the franchise so far, second to World Tour. Sure, there's some emo bullsh[%]it, but it's all worth it when you get to play stuff like "Under Pressure," "Smells Like Teen Spirit," "Du Hast," and "Make It Wit Chu."

reply

I agree. The Spirit Of Radio, Song 2, Brianstorm and 2 Minutes To Midnight makes up for all its sins.

There is no doubt that there are good songs on this game (Sweating Bullets, anyone?), but the question I am asking is this: Is it REALLY worth the money to buy a game for just a handful of good songs?

Some may say yes. Others, including me, say no.

There was more than a handful of good songs.

Well, like I said above, it all comes down to opinion. Some might find the game worth the money, and others won't.

I agree. thanks to Gaylor swift now in the DS version of Band hero, i have lost all respect for guitar hero. the older games were all rock and roll, and metal. modern day, about money.

reply

you're half correct. yes, most of the soundtrack is garbage, but thank god there's no taylor swift in this one....oh wait...you can transfer songs between band hero and GH5? MotherFu(sound is cut off.)

But don't call the songs "Semi-good". You've got Johnny Cash, Motley Crue, and yes, /\/\EGADET)-(!!!

but yeah, i know what you're getting at. the Guys at activision have cheated themselves to pop music and other forms of music that don't belong in a guitar hero game.

I'm not much a fan of the setlist either but some of the DLC makes it worth while for me since I'm a metalhead it's really cool to play Amon Amarth, Shadows Fall, and Dethklok, and the DLC I got from World Tour like Chimaira and the whole Death Magnetic album by Metallica. It seems like Guitar Hero 3 had the better setlist and it's disappointing that Smash Hits didn't have my favorite songs from Guitar Hero 3 on there.

GETCHA PULL!

A perfect circle

A Perfect Circle is good if you can appreciate music that tries to have a meaning to its lyrics and doesn't feel too insecure to leave the 4/4 time signature -- if you aren't retarded, that is...

I've never played Guitar Hero 5, but I just looked up a list of the songs that are in it, and what the *beep* are you even complaining about?
Bob Dylan - All Along the Watchtower; Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet with Butterfly Wings; Rammstein - Du Hast; Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.; APC - Judith; Nirvana; Iggy Pop; Queens of the Stoneage; Tom Petty; Rush; Megadeth; The Rolling Stones; Queen; Sublime; Iron Maiden;

Do you not have a taste in music? How old are you? If you are older than 14 and not just too young to realize how *beep* your sense of "good music" is, then do society a favor and go grab a pencil and shove it into your ears so you go deaf.

What the hell is with your signature "Join the Metal Militia to fight against emo music"?
You little *beep* are posers.

reply

Poser? Nope, that's not me. That carried over from my "metal is amazing, everything else sucks" phase that I went through last year. I'm not like that anymore, which is exactly why I came here.

Sorry for sounding like a close-minded prick. While I honestly don't like a lot of songs in the game, there are several that I DO like, not just metal either. You know, I put George Michael and the Bee Gees on my iPod. And I am proud because they have great music lol

Excuse me... I believe you have my stapler
