Aquaman as Strong as Superman...

...or at least close to it.

When did this happen? Since when can Aquaman lift an entire ship single handed. He was always stronger than a mere human, but this is ridiculous.

Granted I haven't read comics featuring Aquaman in decades. Did they reinvent the entire character? Again, ridiculous.

reply

I'm more concerned about how he can swim without moving his legs or arms

reply

Same way Superman flies. In this universe, Aquaman also flies......just in water.

reply

That really is odd looking. I guess they figured making his legs kick that fast would look even more comical.

reply

He doesn't actually have to swim. He controls water and can use it to push him along.

reply

If he is as strong to lift a Submarine with his hands than he can push himself in watter. I don't think he is swimming just using his strenghts to come from one place to another.

reply

He is manipulating water. It’s like gravity, curved space pressing you towards matter.

reply

Keep in mind, objects weigh less in water. He has superhuman strength but he is not Superman.

reply

The ship was on top of the water and he lifted it out of the water. Besides, objects don't weigh less in water. Buoyancy only makes it appear that way, to some extent.

And my point was, he never had that level of superhuman strength as far as I can remember.

reply

He lifts a cruise liner and pushed down a tectonic plate in the comics. He's also fought and held his own against Superman. His strength does very from writer to writer, but this is not unprecedented.

reply

All I'm asking is when it changed. I'm not debating whether or not it's precedented. I don't remember him ever having anywhere near this level of strength. At least not in the 80s. Unless I'm remembering incorrectly.

reply

In the comics, he got a power boost in the 90's and he got one again in the NU52 which debuted in the mid-00's.

reply

It's the farts. He eats a LOT of beans which helps propel him through water and since water gives an upward thrust momentum, it's easier to lift heavier things while submerged.

reply

He does look mexican

I was a joke answer to a troll post

Cool, so was mine :)

When I read comics in the 70s he seemed about as strong as Batman. I remember reading this Brave and the Bold comic in which they fought.

reply

He's stronger than the Wonder Twins.

reply

Aquaman has been super strong in the comic books since the 1990s, around the time that writer Grant Morrison relaunched the Justice League.

When Grant Morrison was writing the Justice League, all of the members (Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Batman, etc) were at their peak power levels. Even Batman, who could beat anyone with enough "prep time".

reply

DC has always over-powered their heroes and villains ...having anyone other than cosmic-level entities be able to pull a planet is absolutely ridiculous, sorry.
