#2, clearly has to be Picking The worst possible replacement director for JL
choosing Joss Whedon is The Ultimate WB move, its the perfect example to show just how clueless they are with their DCEU....on the surface it somewhat makes sense, Hes the director on 2 Avengers films and A Comic book guy...but the facts are, There could not be 2 different directors in terms on Tones and Styles of directors than Snyder and Whedon...Snyders JL was again a Joyless , depressing film drained of all color, humor and happiness, Whedons JL would have been the exact opposite, You cant mix these 2..it results in an incoherent mess that has the audience at all times noticing Pacing problems, Tones changes, and Wondering why one scene feels completely different than the other
but mostly, the choice of Whedon just proves how WB once again, even after 5 DCEU films still had no plan at all...they didnt want Snyders JL, but didnt have a plan of their own, they decide lets just coping Marvel Studios, hell lets go get Whedon, He'll know what to do...
WB literally just picked a director they thought could do everything, that could watch Snyders cut, and immediately start rewriting and fixing all the problems they had no clue how to fix...
reports even state, the only guideline Whedon was given was it had to be under 2 hours and had to make the nov. 17th release date...Nothing else...WB had no plan, no ideas, nothing, Just hey try to make this light and funny like The Avengers...
of course this all resulted once again in Disaster...with Justice League being a universally hated and mocked film and a HUGE FLOP...
obviously I went on a massive Anti-WB rant here...
but the point is....If WB has learned anything from their 5 years reign of terror and failure with the DCEU films, if they learned anything from Wonder Woman about getting the right director and letting that director make thier film...
I think Aquaman Will at the very least be A GOOD to Great film...
Wan is a fantastic director, If WB lets him make his movie, IMO it will be good....I'm not entirely surely how successful it will be yet...
I think the DCEU has lost a HUGE portion of its audiences, Aquaman did not have a break out role in JL, JL itself isnt going to bring in any audiences to see the film....The DCEU film are a consistent downward trajectory in terms on box office(wonder Woman being the lone exception, but we can chalk that up to A Cultural Impact, like BP, WW clearly over performed because of its importance to women)...
I think Aquaman is going to basically not only have to stand on its own but FIGHT against the previous DCEU films and their receptions...I dont think the film is going to open very high, maybe between 60 to 80 M....But if Wan KILLS it and its great, could end up really having legs and being a hit...
If its bad, or just average...I think were looking at a real struggle, making less than JL...
the real competition here is WB....can they let Wan do his work....can they stop themselves from Dooming another DCEU film
but because I hate you queen...wanna make a bet...I'll bet right now DISNEYS Mary Poppins returns, pretty easily Beats WBs Aquaman...
Right Now I'll say MPR makes between 600 to 750 M
and Aquaman makes between 450 to 600 M
