Geek-voice Kyle and Black Barbie Randi

You know he just picked Randy because he didn't want to look like a racist, even though she is gorgeous. I mean, the look on his face when he saw her in the light...he gave the "Wow, that was a black chick?!!" face. I am black (lighter than Randi, I get Hispanic a lot) and have dated many white men and I recognize that face on ANYONE, especially new boyfriend's white parents LOL!! I get it when I have telephone interviews since I guess I sound "white". GAG.

I am glad he realized how gorgeous she really is and put his guard down in the end, because it was so obvious before. Lots of people are scared to date interracial because of the taboo and social stigma of it all. I've dated interracial since I started dating and I am glad I did. It's fun and you learn a lot about people :)

She didn't seem to mind he was white. I wouldn't have cared she was black if I were in his place. She was hot and seemed like a nice person.

reply

yeah that's kind of how I am...I am fine with who ever as long as they're hot and I always get "soooo, have you ever been with a white guy?" --frat-boy smirk---. If I had a dollar every time I head that one. That's is AMAZING that I have dated outside my race lol

reply

Wow, op.

To keep people busy.

So even when he ultimately does the right thing, he still gets accused of racism. And people wonder why race relations still suck in the 21st century.

oh I'm not saying that...it's just seems like some guys still mock the idea of people of different races loving each other and not just for sexual reasons. I have had someone say "I actually like you, I never thought I would like a black chick" I had to just laugh, I'm glad I changed his mind. He saw me for my personality and not just the color thing. It's nice when people let the barrier down. I was just saying lots of people still aren't there yet!

Unpopular opinion, but I do agree with your first sentence, Madragora, in your original post. I know that look too. Randi wasn't going to mind because she said that she had dated men that looked like him before. I think that he probably would have had the same thought that the guy that you mentioned. Sometimes you just have to give people a chance. My philosophy is "Never dislike somebody that is different from you because you never know what kind of friend you could be missing out on."

Seriously people, they got to feel each other's hair. The guys got to look at the girls' make-up. Do you think it hadn't occurred to him until just that moment that she was black? Like, duh.

Nevertheless, they still got to feel each other's features including their hair. I don't care how much straightener she used, there's no disguising that coarse hair. Even the other guys knew she had a "dark complexion" when they never even saw her. It was no secret to Kyle or any of the other guys that Randi was black, and that fact didn't just occur to him the first time he saw her.

happyone, I also thought that Randi was wearing a weave. Weaves aren't coarse. At least not any of the ones that I've ever seen. I thought that Kyle looked surpised when he saw Randi. I could be wrong though. And yes, Harrison did know what race Kahleel was.

Well even last week, the girl's voice sounded black. I'm not talking about her dialect or vocabulary or anything, but the actual quality of her voice sounded black. If he were really paying attention he probably would have noticed!

yes I agree! it's hard to convince people though who have had their parents say "whatever you do, don't marry a black woman". Sadly, I had a white guy friend tell me his mom told him that and when I came to his house to watch a movie his mom gave me that face, even though me and him have been friends for years. I know that is only a few people, but parents have a huge affect on children even as they grow to adults. I think it's mostly the few stragglers from the older generation, because I don't get that reaction from younger people (under 30. It'll get better, but it's going to take a while :)

I really felt that whole thing about her being "too old" was just him trying to find an excuse, since Randi didnt seem old to me at all. It felt like he was trying to grasp at an excuse other than race.

I think he shouldve been happy, cause she was hot and out of his league if you ask me.

reply

oh yeah! I forgot about that! I though the same thing, I was like, really? She's too old? Wooooow. He was definitely using it as an excuse, because if he was with his friends he would have said, WHOA a black chick! haha
