Great story and writing, don't understand the low rating!

Writers are lonely misanthropes, frustrated by real life and the blank screen. When they are working, they are too busy to tend to their relationships in life, and when they aren't working they stare at their cell phone and the mirror, cursing Father Time and the "friends" they ignored that now won't return their phone calls. The reason I write that, is because 99% of movies/TV don't depict real male friendship. Instead it shows two guys insulting each other, which is supposed to indicate a lonely friendless misanthropic writer's idea of what a real friendship would look like.

That is why I really liked this movie! For a refreshing change, it showed two middle-aged guys with life struggles. Yet they were real friends, known each other a long time and respect and accept each other's differences and choices. I also liked Ray Romano's "Men of a Certain Age" for the same reason. Guys who were not dependent upon each other for work or money or connections; just guys that were supportive of each other, and shared a common history and interests. Like friends are supposed to.

The male leads also wrote the movie together. It shows. I watched this because I like Wendy Malick's comedy and was surprised at her role, here. She was great, and a nice funny foil to humanize the guys in the story. Anyway, really liked the movie and it was great to see something that is not shown too often in today's movies/TV; a story about friendship. Continued success to everyone involved. 8/10

I tried to like this movie. But, the guys are too whiny; too bitchy. I'm approaching 50, and separated. These guys are too L.A. - the Porsche, golfing, golf clubs, golf store. Adam is too much of a moper and he's got that undertaker-creep look going on. Jon turns into this mega-whiner. What's the point of this film and who is it directed towards ? If it's a middle-aged guy like me, it misses the mark. Felt like I was watching a chick-flick. I do think the last 10 minutes of the film were the best - much better writing and acting than the rest of it.
