Pink blood.

Who would have thought the colour of blood could have spoiled my viewing pleasure? Being blood of course in a Saw franchise, is frequent and a intrinsic part to the story. I don't know if it was something to do with filming it in a 3D aspect, which caused the blood to have a pink tinge to it? For some unbeknownst reason, it really affects taking the traps and violence seriously.

I was coming here to ask the question "Am I the only one that thinks the blood is pink?"

Thank God I'm not crazy.

And I think it does have something to do with the 3D. 3D is all about creating contrast between the background and the foreground. Since this is a horror movie with mostly dark sets, the lighter the blood, the greater the contrast, the better the 3D effect.

I was beginning to think it was in my imagination that because I thought it once, that was how I would always see it. Then I watched Saw 6 and Saw 7 again back to back and there is a whole world of difference in the hue. It's especially pronounced because Saw 7 picks up, right where Saw 6 left off. Flesh generally in Saw 7 and Mark Hoffman's torn jaw is noticeably pinker, when compared to the previous films. You would think though if that's a typical problem of filming in 3D, they could treat it in the post production? So many horror movies are using 3D as a selling point and don't have the same trouble with the colour of blood. Maybe it's only you and I, that can see it? It could be our special gift or something?

"Treating a film in post-production" is SUPER expensive. It easily would have added a couple more million to the budget.

And yes, I noticed the pink blood IMMEDIATELY too. So obvious.

It's a shame because filming Saw 7 in 3D was completely unnecessary. 17 million dollars spent on the budget and they couldn't even get the colour of the blood right, what a waste. It makes the film look like a joke and it's difficult to take the violence and gore seriously. I really hope 'Saw: Legacy' redeems the franchise and the aftermath of the 7th instalment, is quickly forgotten about.

I just finished watching this and the pink blood was just awful. It's like someone tried to add something to Pepto Bismol to make it mimic blood and failed miserably. I actually did think they were taking the piss with this one.

It is like the people that signed off Saw 3D as completed, had never observed a mammal bleed before. It was a massive oversight, to go unnoticed.

I couldn't agree more. I couldn't take it seriously. Looked like melted bubble gum. WTF?!

reply

Maybe to cover the budget costs of filming in 3D, they had to substitute artificial blood with melted bubble gum. Probably strawberry flavour I think. That is the best observation, I've seen. :)
