I miss being 16 and obsessed with Saw

I miss all the hot goth girls that were into this series and all the theories that we came up with.

I miss all the losers I used to troll on the Saw boards like Liquatic, youpi-youpi, and Vulley681.

Fck man why did this amazing series have to end. I want more Saw NOWW!

reply

I know the feeling. The last few Octobers haven't felt the same without a new Saw film on the way.

reply

To be fair, we were all a bunch of losers. I miss those times, but probably just because I was a dumb teenager. All the time in the world to sit around, watch the abominations that are the Saw movies and post on these horrible IMDb message boards. It was fun!

Edit: Anyone remember that DocDuchaine guy? Those poems sure were... something.

reply

Are you youpi? And people try to forget that DocDuchaine guy and his nasty-ass poems. I made fun of him all the time but his wife CostasMScottPFan would always back him up.

Those times were the best. I can't think of any other series today that can come close to the phenomenon that was Saw when it was going on. All we have nowadays is endless Marvel adaption crap.

Saw is coming back btw. I just want it now this Halloween!

reply

Yep, I'm youpi-youpi. Which is by far the worst online handle I've ever used.

CostasMScottPFan, wasn't she the one with the huge signature about how hot the men of Saw are? I always thought that was hilarious. Not sure if she was serious about it, but either way, that's dedication.

Man, Saw was good back then and I had fun with it, but it already went on for far too long. I'd hate for there to be a new addition, 'cause I know I'd have to go and see it. I only watched Saw 3D because it would feel wrong not to see the conclusion. That's just me though.

reply

That signature was the most eye-bleeding, ridiculous thing I've ever seen. I'm ashamed she got the signature idea from me. I was wwwwwwwwfe at that time and made a signature about half that size.

She was just another obsessed fan. But she was in her late 40's and her husband Sir DocDuchaine was like 53 and they were like those old hippie couples you always see in a crowd of teens trying to help fight the power.

Saw 3D isn't a Saw movie. It's a comedy spin-off. For me Saw ended with III and everybody died.

The new series from James Wan and Leigh Whannel will be the most epic thing we've ever imagined as Saw fans. I just hope Tobin and Shawnee come back.

I am skeptical about you being the real youpi-youpi. There's been lots of imposters. But lets put you to the test with 3 questions only the real youpi-youpi would know...

1. What was youpi-youpi's favorite band/group around the time she was on the Saw boards? She talked about them A LOT!

2. What was her favorite game series in which she preferred the games over the movie adaptions?

3. Who was youpi-youpi's favorite Saw character?

If you can answer all those then you are without a doubt the real one. Or maybe someone that was around and knows these answers as well. Either way, I miss youpi-youpi and all the other fans. Hope they come back.

reply

I was really surprised to find out there'd been people posing as me, but that's the Saw boards for you. Weird.

Let's see, I was most active when I was 14/15, so The Doors are probably what I was going on about. Although I did fall in love with Metric then as well. Favourite video game series, gotta be Resident Evil. I'd probably still say it's my favourite now, although I haven't enjoyed the newer games much. The movie spinoffs still suck, but they're so bizarre now I think I look forward to them for a good laugh.

Lastly, Amanda. It was always Amanda. Looking back on myself, that was me being edgy as hell. I recently watched 1-3 again and I really didn't enjoy her character at all. But yes, I thought Amanda was awesome at the time and I so wanted her to be alive! All those crackpot theories, whew.

To reiterate that first point, it's pretty weird to have someone questioning my identity and people pretending to be me. That's nothing compared to all the w(insert random number of "w"s here)fe impostors though! If I'm remembering correctly.

Good times anyway!

reply

Holy #@*!&%! O_O It is you! You were are a legend on these boards! At least among the Saw IMDB fans that is! You started on the very first Saw board I remember, with me, SawedToPieces, sylviar, bearfuqer, and some other people I can't recall. I think you were the first majorly devoted fan of Amanda, so we always remembered you for that. Then came along Amandaaaa who was like the 2nd one in being obsessed with Amanda.

I don't even know why I remember all of this don't ask.

But seriously, great to see you here again! I will admit that I actually was convinced Amanda Young was still alive because of your theories, but I think they thought Dr. Gordon coming back was a big-enough stretch and they could only pull that trick once, so they wanted to use it on him.

You said Amanda could survive a bullet in the neck because it happened in some other movie (I forget which one) so I was like, yeah I could see it happening in Saw.

Oh well, at least she came back in flashbacks.

Man good times. We might think it's silly now, but damn was it fun then. I remember analyzing the little, ridiculous details in pictures and trailers thinking they meant something. All the build up before release night. These boards were like a mosh-pit of trolls, dedicated fans, newbies, druggies, and psychotic folk. Such good times

Yeah sorry to have to do an identity check, but you really wouldn't believe how many impersonators there were that pretended to be you. They would have some variation of "youpi" in their name and would be die-hard obsessed with Amanda. Got my hopes up that the true fans returned, but then by grilling them we all could tell they were not you.

Like I said, psychotic people...

Who didn't want to be me (w8fe) back in the day? I had many sheep on these boards. There's no explanation for the things people did on the Saw boards... best not think on it too much

Just for the fun of it, I got one more bonus question for you.

Who was your favorite character in Silent Hill?

reply

Yeah, funny I'm here again at all, I had just decided to google "youpi-youpi" to see if I could find any embarrassing forum posts from all those terrible alternate sites we created. There are a few that still exist, and I cringed a lot.

This post also came up in my search since you used my name and I thought, why not, I'll reply. I noticed I'd changed my username to something a while ago so I tried to change it back to youpi-youpi, but it was taken! I can't believe anyone would want to pretend to be me and have to use that silly name. Ha.

I don't think I got into Silent Hill during my stay on the Saw boards. In fact, I didn't manage to pick up Silent Hill 2 until a year or two ago. If I had to guess from the little I played and watched of the games and the movie adaptation at that time, my favourites would have to be Pyramid Head and/or the nurses. Not quite characters, but oh well.

reply

Yeah Pyramid Head! Remember this scene:

Do you still have the youtube/vimeo videos you made of Amanda?

Remember these:

I found a ton of sht from those days on google. Even all the drawings people made of other forum users ahaha!

reply

Oh man, I do remember those. Here's my old channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/heteindvanbegin

Can't remember what my Vimeo was. You should post those drawings!

reply

*beep* you you *beep* loser

reply

Too bad I missed this conversation by two years, it gives me a very nostalgic little kick.

That son of a bitch! Don't get me wrong, he's a fine writer.

reply

I remember the whole Newman debacle from here, too.

reply

Oh for the love of god, I forgot about the Newman... situation, haha. My memory is a bit foggy on details, but I remember it being quite the scandal on the boards, lol.

I'm trying to recall exactly what was going on... what was the sort-of main jist of the Newman saga again? If memory serves, I found it amusing and annoying at once.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

reply

I second that motion... :)

Jigsaw: Consequences, will never be the same.

Good times!

DrGLI, I remember someone impersonating wwwwwwwfe at some point, to my recollection the original had 7 w's and the impersonator had 8? (I could be wrong) Were you the original?

Either way, big hugs to you both.

reply

Part of me is hoping that, if they really do go ahead with a new film (*fingers crossed*), we'll have a reunion of all the old regulars from the message boards.

I definitely have fond memories of Liquatic, youpi, Vulley, Jigsawexpert and the others. I recall for the longest time being a proud member of the William's Piranha Army, lol.

It's such a shame that so many of the old threads have long since been deleted.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

reply

Don't forget me!

In my opinion, your opinion sucks.

reply

I know exactly how you feel, DrGordon. I used to be ALL ABOUT SAW. My username on everything was SawFan217. I was so SO disappointed with Saw: The Final Chapter. Only thing I liked about it was finally seeing the Reverse Bear Trap in action (though not happy to see it used on Jill) and Gordon locking Hoffman in the bathroom and saying "game over". Thought THAT was a good ending to the series. But the whole Bobby Dagen crap was just ugh…no…awful. He didn't save anyone. Including his wife. Pathetic protagonist.

Now there's talks about a Saw VIII being made which just pisses me off because Saw VII was subtitled "The Final Chapter". It just…ugh. After Saw VI, it got a little messy. Shame.
