Moriarty's season 2 plans make no sense after season 4

In the season 2 finale, we know Moriarty wants to convince the world Sherlock is a fraud and a criminal, and drive him to commit suicide. He even kills himself in an attempt to ensure Sherlock kills himself as well.

But then in season 4, it's revealed he's been planning with Euros, and made videos to taunt Sherlock after he was dead. So, what the hell was his plan in season 2 then? Did he really NOT want Sherlock to die? Did he always plan to kill himself? It seems that way since he made the videos. But he had all the assassins ready to kill Sherlock's friends if he didn't jump, and Sherlock DID have to pretend to kill himself to save them. So....again, what the hell was his plan? Did he make plans with Euros, but also make his own plans?

All this is why it would have made more sense if he was somehow still alive. I know people will say it would be terrible, but I could buy that he had to change his plans once Sherlock faked his death.
