What is that vaguely egg shaped building which you can see outside the window in episode two?
I've been to London twice, but I don't remember that.

They call it the Gherkin.http://www.thegherkinlondon.com/

Thanks for the info. They certainly gave it an appropriate name. I'm kind of surprised that I didn't notice it when I was in London in October 2916.

Benidict Cumberbatch is in this show!

reply

Yes, and Martin Freeman too.

reply

Yeah the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins and Dr. Strange! What a combination!

reply

And it worked beautifully! This is one of the best series of all time.

It is how to properly do a Sherlock show, not that Lucy Lou thing, although Robert Downy and Jude Law were good

reply

I agree completely.

reply

Never watched the Oyster Lucy one though

reply

I tried to watch it once, but the Brit's dialog was almost totally incomprehensible. I could only understand about one word in three. Subtitles would have helped.

😎

reply

I had to turn the subtitles on repeatedly.

reply

I almost always turn on the subtitles. My hearing is not what it used to be. Old Skol.

even though the actor is british, it's no proper british accent or dialect. i have been watching british series since the 80s and work with UK people from all over britain (inlucing cockneys, northeners etc etc), ireland and scotland on a daily basis and nobody sounds like that. i guess it must be the overacting.

reply

Overacting? Why do you say that? I thought the acting was excellent.

lucy was great as always, but that dude just went waaay over proportion. it was mainly the overdoing of the accent though for me. to be fair, he wasn't to blame for the terrible writing.

reply

"Oyster Lucy"? Wait, what? What are you referring to dotcom??

😎

reply

female watson. only redeeming quality of the show.

reply

What are you talking about? There was no female Watson in "Sherlock"

😎

reply

damn, too many tabs open. my bad. i had frigggin "elementary" on the other one.
actually with "sherlock" i had no problems understanding the dialects at all.

reply

Oh okay. No problemo.

Lucy on "Elementary". Yeah, I tried to watch that show, but the British guy is basically unintelligible. I could catch one word in three.

reply

i gave it a chance for the full first season and the first two of season two. at that point i had to throw in the towell. unbearable.

reply

I absolutely love Elementary. The two leads have great chemistry and I like JLM's Sherlock much much more than Benedict's. I will admit that JLM is often mumbly and requires subtitles. But the show make very interesting connections with cannon and is a better than average cop-proc.

I found the Sherlock show to be too often light in sophistication. I blame the Dr Who show runner. If only that meant that it was closer to the better episodes of Dr Who instead of, IMO, the worse. I could not watch beyond the first season.
