A very stupid anime
Just finished watching this.... and I have to say I absolutely hated it.
The beginning episodes were good, they had a nice setup to grab the viewer's attention. The animation were well done and fluid. The back story of government ghost hunters was pretty decent. But the character in the story? Oh gawd... so awful! I was face palming myself so many times while watching this. I guess I should of expected something like with a cheesy ass line like "Will you kill someone you love because of love?".
The entire anime relies on setting up a relationship between the main characters Yomi and Kagura. Then making the characters kill each other. I think we're suppose to cry because they were such good friends or whatever before. But you know whats the problem with this premise? There needs to be a good reason why they're killing each other! Instead what you get in this anime is Yomi suddenly going psycho and start chopping up her best friend, colleagues and killing alot of innocent civilians for no apparent reason.
In the story, Kagura her best friend and her fiance Izuna of course don't wanna kill her even when after what happened. That makes sense, since they're nice people. Until they actually did kill her... without even trying to subdue her with non lethal methods! (like stabbing her shoulder blades so she can't use her arms, tranquilizers, tasers, etc)
There were also other silly plot holes in the story. Like when Yomi's evil uncle (cliche...) and cousin suddenly take control of the family IMMEDIATELY after the said cousin kills Yomi's father. Talk about suspicious. Even gangsters would know you should wait a while. Yomi should of immediately suspected them since she knew she was suppose to be the heir, not them. There apparently also weren't any police investigations afterwards either, as they would of found out Yomi's father died from a sword wound not from a monster. Noone in show either Yomi or Kagura even asked HOW he died WTF.
Another big plothole is later when Yomi's cousin Mei dies, they decide to do an investigation on how she died. But you know what logical conclusion they got after finding Yomi and Mei lying in a pool of blood in two different places? Instead of thinking they both got attacked by unknown assailants, they actually thought Yomi killed her cousin and get this... STABBED herself on the ground HUNDREDS of times, SEVERING nearly all her own tendons and hard enough to GOUGE HOLES in the concrete underneath. W...T...F?! I'm sure that's not even physically possible. Oh yes and she did this with knives that she somehow managed to make disappear afterwards.... you really have to see the episode in question to grasp exactly how stupid it sounds.
Other stuff I can think of is why they didn't give Yomi an electronic vocaliser so she can talk while in the hospital, have better surgeons (since tendon injuries are recoverable, not the end of the world), use sealed banestones to heal her injuries, etc. I think the writers just stop trying and gave up midway since all these plotholes only seem to happen in the later episodes. Added to the crappy ending that didn't wrap up much of anything and made the whole anime look like a teaser for the manga, I'd say this anime is pretty crap.
