I thought Kazuma was a girl at first...

Am I alone here? I was hoping the film would show a girl video gamer who's excellent at fighting, but...

reply

Yeah that would of been nice to see a girl gamer but dude why the hell did you think Kazuma was a girl?It was pretty obvious Kazuma was a boy

Old Toby,..the finest weed in the South Farthing

IDK I guess his body language and character design just kinda came across to me as more girly

reply

You're not alone.
I've always wondered if Kazuma might actually be a girl.

Arguments against it:
-Kazuma is primarily a boy's name.
-Refers to himself as "boku".
-His own father says he's about to be a big brother.

Arguments for it:
-He's voiced by a woman who's making no effort to sound masculine.
-His avatar is a bunny.
-His physique is fairly gender neutral.
-He has a female's body language and mannerisms.

He could be a tomboyish girl who his father is raising as a boy.
Or maybe he's just a wimpy boy. After all his father did say he used to get bullied a lot.

Could be either. At his age it's not uncommon for gender lines to be blurred.

Good thoughts! :D

I'm of the opinion maybe he was born a boy, but wants to transition?

reply

YES! I completely agree with you!
A typical anime trap.

The first time I saw the movie I instantly pegged that character as a girl... and was a little disappointed I was wrong. Just seemed like a better fit, and the whole fighting aspect felt like overcompensation for qualities character lacked from girly-girls.

I blame Ed from Cowboy Bebop.

Can't stop the signal.

reply

I thought he was going to end up being love interest so, no, you're not alone.
