Does anyone have an opinion on why they showed the article that Daniel cleaver was actually alive not dead...

My opinion is that they couldn't get Hugh grant back for the film, so they 'killed him' off. By 'unkilling' him right at the end, it means the door is left open for him to return should they make another film. Could be totally wrong but that's my guess!

The "killing off" of his character was clearly a joke, as in "missing for his own funeral" fitting in with his playboy image. Could just as easily have had a casket.

If you watch the end credits, Hugh Grant is mentioned in the special thanks section.

"I know it looked like I fell... but it was all part of my plan!"
