Much better than I expected

*Spoilers Ahead*
This movie isnt half bad. My friends and I went to it for a good laugh expecting it to be completely awful. We're all 19 and 20 and don't really watch teen movies anymore. We were all pretty surprised though when it turned out to be quite a decent, watchable film. The trailers made it look a lot worse than it actually was. In the trailer, steel sounded really annoying but actually he was one of the funniest parts of the movie. And the acting was all pretty decent for the most part, but a few parts we thought the movie took itself a little too seriously and overacted a bit, but it didn't really take away from the story at all. The cgi was also really pretty decent. Max's liquid electricity powers from his hands never looked fake or dumb at all, and the way it was animated was unique. Ive never seen those kinds of powers before. Sure, there's a couple plot holes, and sure, the suit can come across as a bit cheesy at times. But what else would you expect from a movie based on a line of toys? Honestly the only thing that could have made this movie better is a bigger budget. If they would have had a little more money to work with and a little more marketing, this could have been a blockbuster hit. If your kid likes the marvel movies, spiderman, the power rangers, or even the transformers, they'll probably like this. It gets a 6.5/10 from me.

Thx. Definetly watching this.

I thought it was interesting, it was like a better version of that Fantastic Four movie.

Lol, sarcasm right

watched this without knowing anything about it, im just familiar to the name so i tried it, its not bad just when its finished i thought thats it? like the story just started and they end it..

reply

I read a negative review before I watched it, so maybe that lowered my expectations. Not that I had many, because I wasn't familiar with Max Steel. As for the storyline, most of the gaps were filled in towards the end, so I felt the same way about it. The only part that was tacky to me, were the closeup face shots of Max and Miles, when they were fighting. Other than that, I thought the movie was okay.

I think Max Steel is one of the worst movies made in the past decade.
No originality, terrible script, dire cast. And the demographic! Extremely young, this felt like a Disney made for their own tv channel movie just on a higher budget.

I thought Dr Strange was going to be the worst Superhero movie of 2016, I was mistaken 😒

Check my profile, I beg to differ.

Also regarding "Differing" differing opinions don't make folk wrong. Please google the concept of opinion before commenting something so ignorant.

How very constructive, I have different taste than you so it's bad.

Also do you know what a troll is? Someone who trolls people aka causes trouble and acts like a dick...........like you just did...........Mr Troll.

Why people feel the need to kick up a storm over the most trivial things I'll never understand. 

Suicide Squad would be the worst for me.

I agree with you completely, in my opinion its the crappiest i have ever seen. Feels like a ripoff anyway from Guyver and even now Guyver 1 & 2 way better movies. Liked them more, laughed more etc.
Max Steel is crap and i doubt we will see a Max Steel 2 and if they do make no. 2 then someone has loads of money to waste because its crap.

A blockbuster hit? This would have needed a lot more than a bigger budget to achieve that. This movie basically entails a guy who randomly starts emitting energy, running around like a chicken with its head cut off, finding out he can be super human and then never actually utilizing that...AT ALL...only to go into a cliche "You're actually special!" type of movie.

The last...6 minutes or so? That was the best part of the movie. It's a shame the rest of it wasn't thought out or done quite as well as that.

The only good thing you can say about this movie is that it's quite impressive the CG work that was done in it, given the quite low budget this film was apparently made with.

Course, once I saw the budget for the movie, it explained why the suit was absent for SO much of the movie, and why they strong-armed in the whole "Oh, Steel is just...gone...for all of the times Max is in life-threatening danger".

Wow, I am shocked to find anyone enjoyed it. I thought it was so bad it seemed like it was almost made as a tax right off. I certainly could not see where even the modest budget went as it certainly was not on script or special effects. I would rate this movie as one of the worst of 2016. I would put it in my top 10 worst films of the year and I watch a heck of a lot of movies. I'm a sucker for these kind of genre movies too.

woajhhh u went to see a movie even tho you expected it score a 1 out of 10? cos thats the only way it can achieve far higher than expected.

This was like syfy channel movie or a dtv sci fi movie, Idk mind movies like that if they are a little fun to watch, this wasn't that fun.

Ask the guards, they'll deny it. Ask the inmates here—they'll cut their tongues out before they talk
