Misleading!

The way this documentary was portrayed was horrible. It's clearly made for Americans to watch. In the movie they talked about this possible scenario where leaders of all countries would have to stand together and decide how to deal with the crisis. They made it look like America wanted to save the world with all their good ideas and the rest of the world where just holding back afraid of changes when it's actualy the other way around. Europe has been waiting, and still is waiting for America to wake up and join the fight against climate change! Instead this movie makes it look like China and India is the bad guys here. America is the biggest consumers of resources!! This documentary don't look at theise facts, it's terrible.

So they talk about how the world would adapt to all the changes. That in New York they would build the biggest wall ever to hold the water out...That is the dumbest thing I have ever seen! Just think about how many recourses it would take to build something like that! And at that time resources would be hard and expensive to get. Stupid. It really is. They also say that America needs to be the good example, so the rest of the world will follow... What?! Well than is kinder to late! It's not becaouse I don't like America, but this doucumentray just don't take this problem serious.

I think however that this big collapse, which is on its way, needs to be avoided. Instead of watching this documentary, I would recommend that you go watch The Age Of Stupid or Collaps. They are better and they actualy take this problem serious.

Gee, climate change. Not global warming anymore? Its REALLY cold outside right now - I can see why you're backing away from "Global Warming" (which is what's portrayed in this propaganda). Let me guess - the fact that its so cold PROVES global warming is real!

"Climate Change" is a manufactured crisis. No, lefty, we don't need for you eco-clerics to rescue us with your enlightened despotism. We know that Green is the new Red.

There are problems, no doubt about it, but the left - willing to murder 100 million in the 20th century and to embrace a 7th century murder cult in the 21st for political expediency - in no way should be involved in ANY solution. You are fools, you are closet despots, and you can't be trusted.

Europe is dead - killed by the left. Lie down and shut up, like a good corpse.

reply

its all a bunch of bull... global warming, climate change. lol all for the tax money. Green is the new red, eco leftists are absolutely insane. But the are still high on that hope and change opiate. sometimes i really want to physically fight these people and if it comes down to it i will.

If he were a global warming nut, I'd say to have his pre-conceived notions confirmed and/or to fantasize about the downfall of man absent leftist salvation.

reply

I don't think he watched it. He's a regular conservative nut job. :-)

Neither did I watch it. I'm just here to figure out what this documentary is about. Couldn't get a clue yet.

reply

I agree - it's all about money and power. I also tend to think it will come down to a physical struggle. So do they, which is why they want to disarm everyone. If the State is irresistable and they control the State, they're golden.

reply

I know I've been arming myself in preparation for the eco-nuts and Gore-nazis taking to the streets in the U.S. the way they do in Europe.

Irrelevant to whether or not global warming and/or climate change is happening, and if so, caused by human activity, surely there is an argument that trying to conserve forests, reduce waste and pollution for a cleaner environment is not always a bad thing? Even if climate change is not happening, I would prefer to live where there is less waste, unnecessary consumption of resources and general pollution.

I am not some 'eco-warrior' but I do think striving and setting goals to waste less, use more efficiently can benefit most people - from businesses, governments and individuals.

To everyone saying *beep* it's cold today, global warming is *beep* in the middle of winter must be retarded. I mean seriously. That's like someone turning the A/C on and saying "Gee, it's a cold day today, what are all those climate change nuts on about".

Really? Just because it's cold on one particular day, global warming doesn't exist? *beep* eh? I suppose when summer rolls around you'll start thinking about global warming again until the next winter. Gimme a break.

People like this belong with the crowd that thinks termites release more greenhouse gases than all of humanity, and that the war in Iraq was about WMDs.

In my opinion, people are so stupid (me included, so *beep* OFF), we're all doomed whatever we do. I just hope I live to see the day when average temperatures rise enough to melt the ice caps. The skeptics can live on the coast, sit in their living rooms, their top halves sweating profusely, their bottom halves immersed in water and agree furiously with each other that it's just 'an unusually high tide this year'.

reply

>>"It's not becaouse I don't like America, but this doucumentray just don't take this problem serious. "

And yet your entire comment bashes America without once talking about any advances our country makes, the scientific contributions and fail to mention the holdups and backroom deals in Europe. You don't even know what you are railing against, do you?

You are right, in America we are not yet currently selling *beep* green "credits" and carbon trading. LOL, carbon trading, I wish I had thought up that one, Bernie Madoff move over, in a dozen years you'll have a lot of company.

What Europe is doing is hiding behind America, saying on one hand that they want to do something while knowing full well that America will not capitulate . They do this o they can say they will do anything "as long as America agrees", and then guess what? Eurpope get to do nothing while pretending they would.

Throwing up a few turbines doesn't do didly bro, criticise your own first ok?

reply

Well...I could start bashing up America like all the other fanatics but thing is I'm not sure who's right on the subject at hand. But I do know one thing though. I've been lucky enough to have had the chance to se America and I've seen Europe....and I've also seen the Middle East and if I can say one thing though is that Europe does care, unlike most of the rest of the world. I've seen Holland, a country that is practicaly living of clean energy. The industry is using windmill power and tidlewave power and solar power more and more. Most of the people in big city now use bikes to get around...even to work. And I've never seen cleaner cities anywhere else. And Holland isn't the only one. In the last couple of years I've seen other countries taking the same example too. Denmark, Sweden...Norway. Sure there's always one or two countries who take advantage like...Italy for example...I honestly never seen so much ignorance and there's Spain which is close behind, but all in all I've seen much change in these last years. Wish I could say the same about the rest of the world. The middle easterns simply do not care about the planet or the enviroment. And there's America which I have to admit are bringing a lot to the table with developing always new technologies but you know what? It doesn't really help developing safer and cleaner ways for us survive when most of the population barely know how to write. You guys have most of the briliant minds in the world at work 24/7 but you also have a HUGE amount of people that are downright stupid who simply do not care about anything else except themselves.

The capitalist nuts that believe they will still rule the world in the 21th century, don't want to come to grasps that climate change, be it rapid or slow, isn't their issue. At all!
Their issue IS energy resources (oil in their case). The cost of offshore drilling and all the other places they think they can find oil, isn't cheap and it definately isn't cost effective.
Your empire is dying (the oil one, not the US) and sure it will earn alot of the oil 'barons' even more money, as the supplies dwindle.. but as soon as resources for mainstream enery production aren't localized, they will be democratic and transparent which is something the corporate elite hates. Even more than socialism (or europe).

The problem isn't ecology or 'values', or even climate awareness. The problem is that energy conversion IS inevitable and politically delayed til breaking point. And that delay is sustained by social prejudice.

I'm reminded of "the age of stupid" here, where people in a small british village say they all agree with wind power. Just not in their town!

Similar attitudes are the blueprint for a worldwide standstill in all positive and substancial change that requires a modicum of sacrifice.
"I'm all for it! Just not here (for me).."

This mentality alone will translate in complete and utter anarchy with the established energy control-system that's in place. Who do you think is dumping money in research to own all available patents? You still think 'going green' is a leftist camp idea?!

My country (Portugal) is building lots of transformers in order to update the US antiquated power grid. EFACEC even built a plant there cuz the cost of shipping was 1/3 of the price.. And oil ties up nicely with that.. All that US does is grasp at straws, be it the iraq war or alaska drilling.

Europeans are at least showing some effort, while americans simply don't have it in them to change lifestyle. Guess who's gonna suffer when the 'energy rapture' comes? I just don't think 'god' carries SUVs up there..

Get used to 'locally grown', bikes and rolling blackouts.. cuz thats where you're heading for, sooner than later. All because you're coming late to the table (or not at all).

I completely agree with you on this. This was made for Americans. I know we are in crisis but it has nothing to do with global warming. In fact, people should take a look at other documentaries about how our planet works.

It's a great story, but that's just it... a story..

Common sense alone should be able to tear this documentary down.

"Scientists" also says that we have an ice age every around 25,000 years. They're not sure when was the last one. They also believe that we're in the last stages of the last ice age.

Also, what they're saying about water shortage because of the heat? As the glaciers melt, the sea level gets higher. The water doesn't get destroyed and disappear. It will need thousands of degrees of heat to break apart a H2O molecule.

There are some who believe that global warming is nothing more than a marketing strategy. Quite similar to the "buy American" back in the 90s. Large companies have been using strategies like this for year.

I think it is silly to think that exponentially increasing our C02 doesn't do anything to the climate. Especially releasing that gas over a long period of time.

America is also working at getting green. I'm just assuming here, that it takes a larger country a longer time to get up to par. For example, in West Texas windmills are going up everyday. I think tiny city-state countries are going to have way easier time going green than a country with 4-5 time zones.

100% TRUE!!!

The planet isn't dying. It ain't going anywhere!!!

What is dying are the places for man to live and grow crops and livestock.

It isn't about "saving the planet" -- it's about saving the human race.

It's just about control. With a roll of the dice you're born, and that's about it. Where you end up as an infant is pure chance. Most of those in control now were born into it, others exploited the system. Want to take them on? Good luck forming an army. You have to be MORE skilled in deceiving others to take power for yourself. Is it worth sacrificing your integrity for it?

The way the human being is right now cannot possibly live up to the imagination of our future. It's going to boil down to eugenics all over again. Not that I condone it, but all animals selectively breed.

It's all a matter of the pick of the deck where we end up in 90 years.

It's not for Americans. It's for liberal idiots. I just love the scene when they find their safe haven and see a video of their liberal Jesus Obama. The science behind it is BS aswell. To watch this *beep* you must first be stupid enough to except global warming as a fact. This is just complete and utter *beep* from start to finish.

reply

> The science behind it is BS aswell.

The science behind this video is mostly okay. The problem is that we don't really know in what direction things will go. Science may help or science may hurt.

> To watch this *beep* you must first be stupid enough to except global warming as a fact.

You must be one of those non-liberals that can't even spell (and I'll bet you don't even know which word you spelled wrong). Why should we accept your uneducated opinion?

The fact is that the globe is warming. You can deny that. There is plenty of data that shows that the average temperature is increasing.

Now, what people are debating is how much of that is due to humans. Many people point out that the earth is in a natural warming cycle. That's true, but natural warming cycles take thousands or millions of years to complete.

The warming cycle we are seeing is happening within a hundred years and it is accelerating. That's not due to nature.

I'd estimate that 90% of the warming is due to man-made sources.

> This is just complete and utter *beep* from start to finish.

I can agree with that. The special was just making things up most of the time. Some of the things make sense but most of them were just wild shots in the dark.

They were eerily correct in a couple of cases, such as the massive NYC flood after a storm surge and the massive wildfires in the west.

Well the problem is not only America, its the whole world who has to wake up and realize we are a hairs width from having destroyed the Earth for an overseeable future, our kids kids will grow up in a global dump if this *beep* goes on. Im not a global warming nut, i think these progress in cycles, and not all cycles can be identified from ice cores, and not much further back than 800k years. Its the pollution, the overfishing and water shortage i am concerned about, our first "water war" might not be far off. Its the greed and the egotistical thinking of today that is a large part of the problem.

People are living today like there will be no tomorrow. Living to excess, in our throw away society.
Unfortunately the most optimistic part was the great die-off in the later part of this century when we saw the human population go from 10-12 billion back to 2.5 billion. The carrying capacity of our planet is around 2 billion, so it's a good start.
