One of the Best Science Fiction Movies Ever Made

I know that haters are going to hate... But I've now watched this movie 3 times, over the course of about 2 years... And this time I cried at the end.

Maybe the haters should give it another try; maybe they missed something.

Maybe they went in with the wrong expectations, and so they were disappointed.

I don't know... But this film is a masterpiece.

This movie is absolutely awful! Its called MONSTERS for Crying out loud. It was slow & boring. What was soo masterful about it captivating? I mean a masterpiece? Lol I can think of 1,000s of movies that are better! Literally. Have you seen a lot of movies?

reply

If you have watched this movie then you would know why it is called monsters. Did you not see the end? And everything in between too? Then again, everyone has their opinion but i think they showed us a good amount of "monsters".

reply

The movie focuses on the relationship between Andrew and Sam, NOT the monsters. They were nothing more than a backdrop.

reply

You missed the point of who the "monsters" are.

This movie is absolutely awful!

Well, it's not great. Not much happens and the two leads weren't very interesting, and there really wasn't enough story for a feature film - it honestly felt like the director had a great idea for a short film, and then made the mistake of trying to make a feature. Parts of it are fantastic, but it would have been a lot more effective if it were 20-30 minutes long. On top of that, it was marketed completely the wrong way, and the trailer was seriously misleading.

That said, I wouldn't go as far as "awful". I'd call it "watchable with some good moments".

Its called MONSTERS for Crying out loud.

That's kind of the point, dude. It's called Monsters, but they're not.

most boring crap of an excuse to ride on sci-fi genre nor the romance genre. fail at both...

just a story about a selfish , horny ,irresponsible man child b@stard, and a spoil clueless daddy's girl on a road trip among less fortunate to make them feel better about themselves and how lucky they are being american land of the free and the haves.... even by fasting forward the movie is dreadful, no chemistry at all , no engaging scene nor is there any single action sequence to care about, just two clueless fella starting at one direction looking more clueless...

reply

I have only made one viewing but the film lingers in my mind...mainly the ending...most recently made sci-fi films are less memorable.

MONSTERS is a gem!

Well it is a upsettingly awful and dull movie. I had the bluray and after seeing the trailer I was amped to see. After seeing it, For the longest time I was trying so adamantly to sell the damn thing for $5 and no one would buy it. I don't think I ever owned something awful I couldn't get rid of. Good thing I had a friend who loves collecting blurays, I just gave it to him.

That's the piss poor message at the end of the movie. It didn't deliver on its title or what they marketed to have. Technically this story could be told with any other earthly animal such as bears for example. Bears can be vicious if provoked, or when encroaching upon their territory but all they want is to multiply and be left alone.....thus we are the monsters for upsetting their way of life. See pretty simple story.

Yes the "monsters" just wanted to exist, thrive, love and Yada yada yada;

This movie was marketed to be misleading though.

I can't stand this superficial movie as it genuinely felt like a waste of time.

I don't know about "one of the best", but definitely in my top 100.

Yes this film is a masterpiece and as with all good things their will be the haters. Oh well. We can enjoy the film

I went into this movie with absolutely no expectations having never heard of it before watching. This film lacks on so many levels, just read that the leading actors were a couple in real life but there was no chemistry between them, the story seemed forced the script lacked substance, the only redeeming feature was the scenery but can't watch that for 2 hours.

Whatever you say, Jack. You are the master race

I watched this based on how much I enjoyed Godzilla and really enjoyed it. Not all movies need to be wiz-bang action-packed events. There's tone, emotion, and a lot of trickling thought and observation here. I won't call it "deep," but it is better than many modern sci-fi flicks. I dig it.

The scenery and style in which it was filmed is really cool, too!
