i love the fact that it seems like 90% of people hate this.

makes me love it more. from mentalfloss.com:

The box office success of Wayne’s World spawned eight more skits-turned-features over the next eight years, beginning with Wayne’s World 2 in 1993, which proved to be a bit of a box office disappointment. Coneheads (1993), It’s Pat: The Movie (1994), Stuart Saves His Family (1995), A Night at the Roxbury (1998), Blues Brothers 2000 (1998), Superstar (1999), and The Ladies Man (2000) followed. In 2010, SNL tried the movie thing again with MacGruber, which failed to earn back enough to cover its modest $10 million budget.
haha macgruber is quite possibly the ONLY funny movie to come from an snl sketch, maybe with the exception of 'wayne's world.' (i don't count 'blues brothers' (1980) a classic that is in a category all its own)

they used to have a name for it: 'the trilogy' which most likely centered around 'night at the roxbury' 'superstar' & 'ladies man', but basically pick any three saturday night live movies & scoff at what a comedic deficit we were in at the time.

macgruber is WAAAAYY funnier than wayne's world. didn't make a dime. if it came to theaters again i would gladly pay $10 for a ticket.

just for the record i liked 'ladies man' & 'superstar' just fine. "boy, you just ate a piece of sh!t"

i didn't see 'coneheads' 'night at the roxbury' or 'stuart saves his family' but i imagine pretty much the same amount of jokes.

Macgruber is a misunderstood masterpiece.

You are in a very very small minority. The Simple fact that MacGruber had a 10M budget and it's box office didn't even make that back meant that obviously almost nobody went to see the movie and which is why you won't see a sequel. I don't care that IMDB has a MacGruber 2 showing as in development, it's never going to get made.

I've seen it on cable and thought it was stupidly bad, i.e. not so bad it's good, just really bad. And I loved the SNL sketches.

did you see it on showtime/hbo, or on basic cable where they cut out the funny bits?
that would make a huge difference.

@schlob77 - Let me enlighten you:

#1 MacGruber is awesome.
#2 The same way some people didn't "get" Wet Hot American Summer - they don't get MacGruber.
#3 Does that make you less smart that you don't "get it" while many of us consider it a hilarious cult classic? You better believe it son!

MacGruber for the win!

MacGruber 2 has already proved you wrong - and it IS going to be made - in fact, it would have been made sooner if Will wasn't already doing Last Man on Earth.

#4 Stop being a hater. Hater.

I've found that MacGruber gets funnier the more viewings you give it. Personality, I like it, even though I'm not a big Will Forte fan. I also like The Ladies Man, but can't say I'm a fan of Superstar--primarily because of Will Farrell's awful miscasting as a high school jock.
