I would love everybodys input...

My question is plain and simple... Do you think this show is REAL or FAKE and why?

I will give my answer in a week, I first want to see all of your answers and I'm really looking forward to reading them. Thank you so Much!!!

I want your answer.

Well, I had a very thought out good answer but nobody replied. I since have lost interest. In a shorter answer, of course I think the show is extremely fake in all aspects.

Your turn... What do you think?

I just watched this over the weekend after seeing it Netflix. I had never heard of it before.

Why would it be fake? I'm just wondering what the purpose is if that's true. The only time I saw something and thought WHOA - was when Michael crashed and the random big black dude came over and helped him up and was kinda smiling. He must have been a camera man or something. Did anyone else catch that? I did feel the blood looked kinda fake also . . . Meh.

I'd really like to hear your thought out answer. Maybe after that I won't want to watch Season 2.

You should probably just watch season 2 to get it out of your system. I don't wanna spoil anything. If your enjoying it then that's all that matters... so enjoy. :)

I think a lot of things are fake. Is it bad that the "bad guys" scared me though?

Is there going to be a new season?

reply

Season 3 is done with casting but it is on semi-permanent hold for unknown reasons. I kinda hope it doesn't see the light of day. If they did it legit then it would be very cool... However, they just cast actors... Yep,it's sadly all fake... besides the killing of animals... that's real... that also bothers me but that's a whole other story.

reply

Oh man . . . I'm not totally in love with this show - Sometimes it was a tad boring. And the "bad guys" are kinda scary. Haha!!

Thanks you guys! I'll probably watch Season 2. I'll get back to you then.

Obviously fake. I knew they were getting help in the first season when chap stick, shoes, clothing etc all magically popped out of thin air. I found Allison on facebook from the first season she admits it on one of her pics talking about keeping chap stick and screw drivers in their bras as a side joke they had going. Like walla I need something and its there!

I had noticed towards the end of the first season like 2 days or so before they exit shes wearing pink lip gloss that came out of no where. Also you will notice the sandals. Season two same think you see clothing etc come out of no where. Also in season two they are making a propeller and to me I was like thats not right it takes a lot more precision.

Sure enough ten minutes later this woman who knows nothing about propellers all of sudden says oh this propeller is two times too big. Really? You been sanding it for two days where did you get that info from? Off camera experts obviously. If they let them fail at their project and just fed them / gave them water / medical treatment fine.

However its complete and utter BS. They pull manuals on how to create things out of their ass that if they even had the slightest hint about they would have worked on from day one. Not to mention all that time in the Bayou in season two did you notice ONE SINGLE SUN BURN? Me neither. 50 days outside in just your bra all day everyday and you are still pasty white?

What planet are you from? Show was so horribly bad that it actually turned into a comedy for me and I ended up watching the second season just to watch the girls strip down to their undies. Thats all this shows worth and they even failed at that they could have shown way more skin.

Now with that said, there may be a few "real" people among the group, but there are definitely planted actors. Joey and Mike are definitely actors. Vlad probably too. I could list a bunch of reasons why, but one of the most obvious is how they react on the show. They literally react like they are in an apocalyptic situation rather than a reality show. If they weren't actors, whenever a "beggar" would come to the colony, they would simply turn them away. It's fake. Also, they didn't lose much weight. I have only watched season 1 and I doubt I will watch season 2. Just too silly. I could have sworn they were running out of canned goods in episode 3 or 4, then they still had enough canned goods by episode 9 or so. Some of the women had make-up on, especially the blonde. Michael's "accident' was conveniently off camera. Joey and Mike were way over the top in their "mood swings." Just a silly show, I am very disappointed (just finished watching on Netflix). Btw, Mike has done quite a bit of work in Hollywood (before the show).

The first one is the most "realistic". The second season has excessive amounts of producer hands-on crap. A lot of poor scripting, a lot of poor events, etc.

The first season at least has mechanical and scientific talent going for it.

I want to find volunteers to perform an actual experiment, with no assistance of any kind. You'll have some random supplies scattered about, but no emergency Marine snipers saving you if you get into trouble.

Probably Real: They have to sleep on location. They have to work. They get emotionally involved in events because thousands of years of evolution can't simply be turned off even when you know things are ultimately fake.

Honestly presented as fake (never was meant to be in question): They are surrounded by cameramen. They are instructed on various projects they have to accomplish. Marauders are actors.

Obviously fake (though not necessarily intended to be known): The marauders aren't just waiting around to attack if the team wanders out of their area. Every venture out of their local area is scheduled in advance, items are placed in advanced, actors are stationed in advanced, participants are probably not aware of what they are to find so you see them genuinely surprised even though most of it is staged. Items necessary to complete the projects are placed on the grounds before or at the time of project to be found.

Deceptively fake (the show tries to make this seem genuine): Everything they eat. I don't think they're slipping the participants steaks every night, because they obviously lose some weight, but they aren't eating turtle. That's why you never saw the turtle even dispatched, let alone eaten. The show seems to draw a line. They have/allow the participants eat some rough foods, but doubtful they actually managed to stretch 1 box of macaroni for 2 weeks. They are given enough food to work with. I believe the weight loss is probably more to do with them having to build crap and walk around all day. Everything to do with the end of each season is flagrantly fake, but they don't state it to be so.

Writers, producers, the director, makeup, wardrobe, are all on set all day making the models pretty with perfect hair and following people around telling them things to do. I believe this has the side of effect of making the participants "blind" to marauder attacks. They are so used to seeing various people slinking around, dodging the camera, running about, setting things up, etc. that when the marauders show up they don't even pay attention until the marauders make it obvious they aren't crew members.

Might be fake: Crew help build their projects. Nothing is a surprise, schedule known in advance, they don't actually have to live in their area 24/7. Maybe they can leave, make phone calls, hang out in a lounge, etc.

All the interviews I've seen taken into consideration, this is not an easy show. They aren't pretending to be hungry or tired. That is chief among the "reality" of the show. They are hungry, tired, and constantly tasked to do more without a day off. In that regard, this is a realistic survival show. There's things they could do to make it more real and less cheesy. But I enjoyed both seasons because they were ultimately fun and not entirely deceptive.

Of course, even if a show is 100% real. No assistance, no staging, completely hardcore, doesn't mean anyone will respect it. Out of the Wild is just about the most hardcore real survival show imaginable and it has basically no traction. Survivor on the other hand, 90% fake is revered for all time.
