We know its scripted and noone can hurt anyone else. Its nothing like real life, this *beep* would be blood baths. So it builds like ZERO tension because we all know nothing is really going to happen.
shareI get what you mean, but in truth it really can be stressful for the folks participating. The army has done similar training for years, using troops to play the parts of civilians, prisoners, enemy soldiers, etc. It can get quite intense, even when you know it isn't real. And for the colony, there ARE real consequences; getting sprayed with pepper spray, losing tools, food or supplies, etc. does affect them while in the simulation. Steal their food, and they can't eat it. Steal their tools, and they can't use them. So I wouldn't say it's totally without consequence; we just know no one is really going to be killed, raped, etc.

I have to agree with this. All they can do is push each other or wrestle each other to the ground. Yeah they have sticks or pipes, but they can't actually use them. Watching one of the colonists try and hold the marauders off with a fire extinguisher in an open area was quite comical though I have to admit. Also, if this were truly real, then most people would have guns. Especially in America. That alone makes the raids kind of pointless, IMO.

shareThe main reason I've spent 4 years to watch 4-5 episodes of this show is the stupid fighting. The over the top survival building isn't that horrible, shows what's possible if you can find all the parts.
The fighting would not have happend that way in real life. Unless totally desperate you would only attack if you had guns, attacking without would be silly.
Someone actually died during one of the attacks which is why season 3 is on hold.
Realistically there are going to be marauders so building a strong defense is important.
