This Wont Flop Cause Dwayne Johnson Is A Box Office Draw

His Movies Always Do Good Theaters He's No Box Office Poison

reply

I thought the same... but opening day doesn't look promising.
Fortunately it only had a 70M budget.
Worldwide it will bring in a profit, but nothing spectacular.

His most successful films are often the ones where he stars alongside an ensemble of popular stars and/or in an established series. The pieces seem to be aligned for this film, but poor reviews, lackluster advertising and a dearth of popular co-stars might hinder this movie's prospects of staying afloat long enough to profit. Combine that with the wave of upcoming big summer movies in the next few weeks, and it's hard to imagine Baywatch will be able to tread water.

it Floped Apparently Rock Couldn't Save This Movie This Time But Despite The Bad Reviews and The Movie Being A Flop The Director Still Wants to do a Sequel

reply

So he said he's willing to work again? Remarkable.

they have something planned for a sequel. Apparently they are thinking that China might save the day when this movie opens there (and other foreign markets) next week.

Time will tell how it ultimately performs, but right now it's paddling against the current.

Next you'll be telling me that water is wet!

I know it's evident now that the weekend has passed. Try to imagine it from a studio exec perspective, though: The Rock, R-rated comedy based off a successful syndicated TV show, cast of attractive young people - what could go wrong?

But it indeed flopped. So is the real box office poison Zac Efron all along?
