It had a stellar cast and was still complete garbage.
Even more, the movies message was ludicrous and made most people hate it even more. If the movie DID "speak to you" and you didn't think it was completely cringe-worthy then you're probably one of the millennials that this movie seemed to be talking to and you're probably part of the self-entitled lot that make most people hate this movie so much.
The movie wasn't good. It just wasn't good.
It wasn't a comedy, that's for sure. It didn't even try to be funny. It was just a fairly light-hearted drama. And, as a drama, it has to be judged accordingly. The story was complete garbage.
I think I would have given it a "2" instead of a "5" if the cast wasn't so great. The cast ALMOST makes the movie not be unwatchable. Almost. But, again, even the stellar cast doesn't save this movie from being unwatchable garbage.
If, however, you insist the movie should be cut some slack because it's a comedy... well, I would counter that argument with the idea that the movie should get a rating of a "1" as a comedy because it absolutely wasn't funny at all! Again, it didn't even try to be - which is part of why Anna Kendrick was sorta wasted in this role.
The Godfather movies had better comedic moments in them than this did.
Seriously... this movie just wasn't good.
