Out on May 5th this year

Such a bizarre story, should be really interesting ... such a long time in development.

I enjoyed the first two episodes quite a bit. They're keeping the mystery quiet.

The only thing I think is odd is that 180 years underground in a small population and they still have these racial characteristics, and they wear different clothes. Seem like there would be uniform like on Star Trek for people in different jobs or statuses.

I thought the engine/generator the Juliet was working on was a bit silly ... but it's a movie.

In the book the history of the Silos are much longer, so your point about genetic characteristics seems valid.

reply

What I think is odd is that it looks as if they recycled some of the City of Ember settings...

Is it any good? I like the actress.

reply

I don't know the actress. The books are great. The story, is amazing, wide ranging, complex, very well written and characterized ... and the show so far - 2 episodes is floowing it very closely. I don't think I've ever seen a movie that follows a book so scrupulously - I am impressed. They sort of compressed the books but in a way faithful to the story. I am not sure I can recommend it since it is only 2 episodes in, and also I am not sure I am a good judge since I have read the books and knew what was going on. Give it a try - or get the books/audiobooks.

reply

Yeah, the first two episodes are good. YA is not my thing but the books are highly praised and this bodes well for the show.
