I agree they were dumb, but there's no way they didn't at least report where they were. Lindsey was definitely rescued.

Well they did not think they had anything to worry about. I mean, on first notice, you would not have suspected this guy to be a serial killer or whatever he was suppose to be. Really, he never did anything wrong other than an experiment. The only inhumane treatment seen was the last gal who had to endure just being the poop bag. Okay fine, it was also inhumane to beat them and lock them up in certain parts of the film.
In real life, European cops seem to be very politically correct as crimes probably do happen in Europe; however, not that often. This being the case, and this one instance, would have them believe they needed to be relaxed. Of course, if the movie went on, from this instance onwards; I would think those cops would be on top of everything, should it happen again.
